$35 for Two Introductory 30-Minute Private Lessons and One 60-Minute Group Practice Party (a $75 Value)

Certified and experienced instructors introduce novices to the patterns, techniques, and styles of various Latin and ballroom dances, such as the fox trot, Viennese waltz, rumba, and merengue. Students will be introduced to a variety of dance styles, and will not be confined to learn one single dance or wedding dance. Students can then socialize with other newbies and put their newfound skills to use at public dance parties, which usually occur on Fridays between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. Call ahead to schedule lessons.

The consortium of professional instructors at Fred Astaire Dance Studios, which was cofounded by the legendary toe tapper himself, shepherds students of all ages and skill levels through lessons that span the style spectrum. Low-pressure private sessions allow enthusiastic teachers to fine-tune individual students' techniques and form, using their expert eyes and mechanical dancing shoes preprogrammed to do the Charleston. Patrons can learn how to cavort through classic waltz and foxtrot romps or swivel through the modern steps of salsa, swing, or samba.
