Questions and Answers

Yup! I was all excited until I read the fine print!
Hi. I don’t understand what “Must activate Groupon within 3 days.” means because it also says that the Groupon expires 10/07/2010. What does it mean to ‘activate a Groupon,’ and by when do I need to place my order with FreshDirect? Is the $30 order minimum after or before the Groupon? Lastly, how/where do I enter my Groupon when placing my order?
Many thanks for your time!
Question: When it says “Limit 1 per person” does that mean if you are ordering for a household of two you can use two coupons? Or if you have two accounts for the same household you can each use one coupon?
yeah the fine print on this sucks! I haven’t ordered in over a year but that’s not enough? I thought maybe it was an error and it should have been 1/1/09?
I’m disappointed!
And, I’m surprised Groupon is even offering this “deal” since it excludes so many people.
If I’m going to put up with daily emails from Groupon they should at least be for stuff I can actually get.
I agree with this being a “waste” of a groupon! This really isn’t any different than the bonus of free groceries Fresh Direct offers for first time customers.
i’m also incredibly disappointed at the fine print on this one!
What does “must activate groupon within 3 days” mean?
it says one per person. is it one per household?
I’m really disappointed, we orderly weekly and I’d love $25 off.. But if 1/1/08 was NOT a typo, I’m not able to use the Groupon.. Definitely a waste.
This is really disappointing. I got so excited when I saw this then read the fine print. Freshdirect does nothing for their existing customers. Always trying to get new instead of keep existing.
So much for rewarding customer loyalty—both Fresh Direct’s and GroupOn’s. Your fine print about existing customers should be front and center—-you shoudn’t make us look for it. And Fresh Direct is getting a little too Sassy and Indirect with this one.

I echo the sentiments previously posted. I am a loyal Fresh Direct customer and appreciative of Groupon’s unique methods for allowing New Yorkers to find deals. So, I was super excited to have the opportunity to use this offer. The offer mimics the same ones Fresh Direct offers through direct mailing. Boooooo…
Grrr. As was said above, I am disappointed that this offer does not extend to Fresh Direct’s already loyal customers. This should have been defined much clearer in the title so that those of us who are already customers aren’t confused.
What a bunch of whiners you people are.
also VERY disappointed with this offer!! COME ON Groupon – USE YOUR CLOUT!! there are MANY MANY Fresh Direct users here in the city who order weekly (or at least every few weeks) who would LOVE to use this Groupon – and honestly – who i feel DESERVE this Groupon. help…….please? get Fresh Direct to actually give back to their loyal customers?
thanks for listening to my tirade! :)
Oh noooo – I just bought it, haven quickly read the fine print and thought it said 1/1/09! And this was my very first buy from Groupon – any options to cancel?
I see that it says I need to activate within 3 days, but that it expires in Oct. At the same time, it also mentions “Groupon purchasers will receive Promotion Code for use at www.freshdirect.com within 7 days of purchasing Groupon online.” I just want to make sure that we don’t HAVE to use it within 7 days of purchasing. i.e. we can truly have until Oct to use it. Thank you.
I agree, pass any poster in NYC and see the add for free delivery for first time Fresh Direct customers. That’s all this is. Not a real groupon if everyone in the “group” can’t join in. Bad form!!!!
i feel duped!
Does anyone know if we can cancel this one? That is some serious fine print…
Tricia – I just emailed them begging to cancel or at least get a credit towards future groupon purchases…waiting to see if i get a response.
still awaiting a response from the Groupon folks…
You can change or cancel your groupon order as long as the deal is still open and you haven’t printed your coupon yet.
You can change or cancel your groupon order as long as the deal is still open and you haven’t printed your coupon yet.
I agree with everyone else. When I got today’s email, I was probably way more excited than I should have been. Only to read the fine print. I order from Fresh Direct at least every other week. Totally a waste of a groupon today. Good job! ha.
and by “response” – i didn’t mean just to the cancelling bit…but more-so about looking out for those of us who HAVE ordered from Fresh Direct within the past 12-24 months :)
Wow! This is a tough crowd! I, too, was excited until I saw the ‘new customers’ part. Oh well. I am not eligible.
But, I thought this was a pretty impressive deal! Why does anyone think that Fresh Direct would want to offer this deal to existing customers? It’s like any other kind of company – they thrive from new customers – it would be like AT&T giving away new phones to all existing customers. This is a free website and service and I think we should be a little more understanding. If you don’t like the offer, don’t buy it. Seems simple to me.

This is not worthy of being a Groupon Deal. Very disappointed.

I’m a new customer and this groupon is great.
Hypothetically speaking – if I do not have an account with Fresh Direct and buy a couple of these as giftds for my daughter who does have an account with them, can she use them? Please respond soon as I need to buy within the hour if I this will work.
Thanks.
This is no deal. Most folks like myself in the Fresh Direct delivery area are already customers.
New customers/previous customers with no orders since 1/1/08 only. I’ve got a question, and sorry if it seems redundant, but I just want to be sure – I recently signed up for Fresh Direct but I have not yet placed an order. Will I be eligible to use this Groupon for my first order? Thanks.
I’m in the same spot as Debra G. I thought it said 09 and I too ordered the Groupon. I’ll also try to cancel. This was very misleading.
can i buy more than 1 fresh direct groupon for myself i see some real cool stuff on the Fresh Direct website and i want to be greedy!!!
The fine print on this one sucks. It really does not seem appropriate for a Groupon as most people I know are at least occasional Fresh Direct customers. Such restrictive fine print is just wrong. I’m more disappointed….more so than I would be if you offered a Groupon for a service that I just wasn’t interested in.
I might get this Groupon but I really don’t understand the time constraints. Must it be USED within 3 days? Within 7 days? Within 9 months? What does “activating” the Groupon mean? (I do agree with other posters that since the no-existing-customers constraints make so many people ineligible, this isn’t really appropriate as a Groupon.)
I’m with Christine. While I’m disappointed I can’t use it, it’s a great deal for some people. It would have been nice for FD to include their existing customers in the deal, even if it were at a lesser discount (and I AM shocked that it’s 2 years — one seems very reasonable.) BUT, not every Groupon is for everyone.
Unfortunately the Deal is only for New customers or if you haven’t made a purchase since 1/1/2008 (so effectively if you haven’t shopped with FreshDirect since 2007). You can only buy ONE per household. So each person can only buy 1.
Wow — this really sucks — I just bought this for nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can I use this offer to buy a gift card???
what does “must activate groupon in three days” in the fine print mean??!!!
Could have been unlimited for new customers and a limit of 1 coupon for existing customers, just to engender good will. That would have been a small investment of FD’s part for a lotta good carma. We don’t want to cheat the vendors, but all this bad will probably cost them something. Vendors, think through your deals to all possible end results!
My roommate has a Fresh Direct account and has ordered recently. I, however, just signed up with Fresh Direct and have never ordered from them. Will this coupon work for me?
And like others have asked, what does it mean to activate within 3 days?

Agreed that the restriction for existing cutomers is a drag. It would be nice if they had made some concession for customers who have not ordered in 6 months. At the very least Groupon should put NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY right up front!!!!
I don’t understand what activiate in 3 days means and then in another place it says 7 days and meanwhile the expiration is October 2010…??? Very confusing.
This deal is not much better than what Fresh Direct offers to new customers anyway… I wanted to buy a bunch and start ordering again (it was early 2008 the last time I got FD) but the fine print is terrible.
This isn’t any different from the regular promotions Fresh Direct runs for new customers. Where is the deal Groupon?
I ordered this and then realized it won’t work for me. The promo is so misleading. I am a loyal Fresh Direct user so this groupon is of no use to me. I am kinda pissed right now. Groupon SUCKS.

Hi all -
Activate in 3 days means that you need to follow redemption instructions which involve registering and emailing your info with Groupon ID number within 3 days from today.
You will then receive your promo code that will credit your account.
Once your account is credited, you will have until October 7, 2010 to use that credit.
HOWEVER YOU MUST CONTACT AND REGISTER FRESH DIRECT BY 1/9/10!
I am sorry to all of you unhappy about the new customer clause. Groupon many times has this in their fine print for services and other features.
I hope you all will find satisfaction in tomorrow or Friday’s Groupon…I think you will!
Cheers,
Lina
Groupon
Same here—I ordered the coupon and then saw the fine print…Already a Fresh Direct customer so I had to cancel the order. This was very misleading—the offer should have said “new customers, etc. only” at the start of the offer.
This is totally lame. But I bet if we existing customers create new accounts with different credit card numbers and different emails we can still get the deal!! I’m just going to make my roommate do it. Easy.

AMY-
MY apologies – we wanted to make clear that purchasers had to contact FD within 3 days so we put that as the 1st FP.
For anyone who did not see it and purchased the Groupon – please click on change order – which will then give you the option of canceling your purchase.
Best,
Lina

So, exactly what is the reason for a 10 hour delay to the first question… or more sensibly over 2 hours to the morning questions? And the response wasn’t even Fresh Direct, it was from Lina from Groupon. Very bad form FD! And how ridiculous that their website contains an UNSORTED zip code list!!!! WTH! Poor My. Monk would have a meltdown if he ever saw that. Please, FD, sort that list! What is the reason people have computers when they dump out raw data for us humans to sort through. Ridiculous, Indeed!

John C. – I tried that once with different emails and different credit card and it still wouldn’t honor a 1st time customer deal for me in the past. It recognized the address, apartment number along with billing information and email.
Lame is right, I’m glad I’ve been a loyal customer of FD for years and can’t get any discounts for being a frequent customer.
Lina:
Thanks for the clarifications. It’s excellent that Groupon is giving unhappy purchasers the opportunity to cancel the purchase.
This seems an odd contradiction, though:
bq “Groupon purchasers will receive Promotion Code for use at www.freshdirect.com within 7 days of purchasing Groupon online”
And yet you say we only have three days — “by 1/9/2010” — to contact and register with FredshDirect.
(I’ve got no doubt Groupon will get me the code soon enough — I’m just wondering why you allow yourselves seven days to deliver a coupon that has to be used within three.)
j.

Hi John -
This is 1 per household, so that would not work.
My apologies!
Lina
Groupon
So is this a limit of 1 per household?
Today’s side deal is for new customers also. Too bad these would have both been nice.
A note to purchasers… DON’T BUY THIS!!! Just wait until your weekly Valpak comes in the mail. This is a frequent offer of theirs in the mail! Atleast then, you don’t have to buy upfront!
Jessica G is correct – you can’t easily just create a new account because FD looks at addresses. When we moved into our current apartment and tried to make a new account FD said we already had one. We explained that we were the new tenants….and finally they let us have our account. Not as easy as you’d think. ;-)
Right, but FD knows that in NYC there are usually several households at one address. You can do it, its just not easy.
Jessica G.:
I know what you mean, but it’s worth noting that FreshDirect does offer frequent customers occasional deals – such as seasonal or annual delivery discounts, or even limited-time free delivery opportunities.
And it looks as if @FreshDirect has been listening to this thread – the Twitter account just twittered about today’s Groupon – http://sn.im/fresh0106 – and put the fine print front-and-center:
Check out today’s GROUPON – $25 for $50 of FreshDirect goodies – sorry, new customers only (but tell your friends!) http://bit.ly/pnnVU
I was excited when I saw the email too but I knew there was a catch. If your a new customer they already have promotions that give you 50% your first purchase and other discounts for 2nd and 3rd purchases. That’s how I became a customer. This groupon is useless a new customer can find a promotion which offers the same exact thing.
I did not get an answer to my question so I will not be buying. Thanks anyway. I didnt think the question was that complicated.
Lina, what if someone else in you household uses fresh direct but often but you haven’t. Will FD still give you the discount even though its the same household?
I totally agree with the above. I bought one and then saw the fine print, which should have been much bigger, and had to cancel. This is misleading, it is a rubbish deal from FD and a rubbish deal from Groupon. Very disappointed.
Hi folks at Groupon – will you please answer the question a few of us have posted regarding the following: we recently signed up for FD, but have not yet placed an order? Will this Groupon apply to us, per the “previous customers with no orders since 1/1/08?” Thanks!
this is really lame, Groupon. This is no deal – this is a new customer incentive that Freshdirect has been offering upon sign-up since their inception. With such a lenghty offer email, there is no reason a disclaimer shouldn’t have been included (though it seems to me that part of Groupon’s mission is to make offers available to all customers, so I’m still not certain what this deal is doing here). It’s incredibly misleading and bad business on both yours and Freshdirect’s part. Congratulations, both companies have lost me as a customer.
Hi Lina. I live in a apartment with a couple other people. If two of us buy the Groupon can we both use it? They will be separate FD accounts, but the same exact address. Please advise.
I agree with all of the above. I’m such a fan of Groupon, that I feel like today’s was a huge disappointment. The “First Time Customer” Rule is CRAP, Groupon’s should be available to everybody everyday or they should not be Groupons.
BullSh**. I canceled after seeing these comments. Fresh Direct really does a poor job at rewarding loyal customers as their deals and discounts are ALWAYS for new comers. In addition, Groupon has really dissapointed here. It would have been so easy to put (FIRST TIME CUSTOMERS ONLY) in large bolded print in both the email and the webpage. Shady. I have some major distrust of groupon now.

Dee – this feature has no minimum purchase amount – so you could spend only $50 and no more.
Katie- You can not gift this to your daughter if she is already a FD customer. I apologize for the delay!

Can the delivery fee be covered with the coupon? I.e., could I buy $44.21 worth of food, use $5.79 for delivery fee, and have the $50 groupon pay for it all?
Thanks for all your clarification, Lina.
Sorry to throw one more issue at you, but if there’s a limit of 1 per person, then the order page should not allow you to purchase multiple quantities (which it does).
Just lost $50 :(
WTF fine print!!!
You can buy more than one and give it to someone.
While the complaints about the slightly ambiguous “fine print” are somewhat justified (although some only have yourself to blame for not reading it carefully), I am surprised at the number of people who are complaining about how “unfair” this deal is because they are already have accounts with Fresh Direct. Lest you forget, this is a FREE service for DISCOUNTED coupons. It costs nothing to sign up for Groupon and you end up saving a bunch of money in the end. The general sense of entitlement here is astounding.

I happen to love Groupon but the reality is some of the deals work for me and some don’t.. The Fresh Direct deal in Manhattan is one of those rare deals that most everyone would jump at and after I spent my $25 I reread the fine print and felt that the offer really excludes many customers unfairly…I will just have to use it as a gift….However, I object to the sense of entitlement comment posted….this is all about Marketing and we all know that this brings new customers and sales to these vendors…
I agree with Matthew W. At the end of the day, Groupon is a forum for marketing businesses who are trying to attract new customers. While Fresh Direct should have offered something above and beyond what they already offer to new customers, they are not doing anything other than what most other companies already do. And, they did put the fine print front and center. It is always up to the customer to read details before purchasing.
I work in Manhattan, can I use this for a delivery to my office?
hello everyone
could someone help me find this new customer deal? if it is half off your first order then i would rather do that and buy as many groceries as i want insteal of only $50 worth
thanks
To confirm – my last order was in 2007 (I just logged into FD to check). SO I can buy and use this with no problem on my existing account, right?

i’m kinda disappointed that none of the existing customers had anything useful to say about fresh direct beyond what i would echo matthew d. saying. and i agree renee, this is meant to encourage people to try things that are new. apparently there are over 2000 folks who don’t use fresh direct. come on people. groupon is great and we don’t always want to buy the daily offering. and if you don’t read the fine print, that’s on you. duh.

I agree that Groupon is a forum to attract new customers – I don’t believe that this Fresh Direct one is a good one. There are coupons and promo codes everywhere that give you $25 off the first two times you purchase. So unless the deal on Groupon is going to be a better deal or keep existing customers (maybe slightly discounted) the whole concept is void. I also just bought a groupon thinking it was a good deal for me. I haven’t ordered fresh direct in a long time but don’t know if it qualifies under the 2 yr rule. Now I have to email t get my $ back….. anyways I agree with the masses that this was not the best groupon.
Can the delivery fee be covered with the coupon? I.e., could I buy $44.00 worth of food, use $6.00for delivery fee, and have the $50 groupon pay for it all?
Damn…this topic is on fire (lol)!
I used to order from FD when they first started & I could get my groceries within a day or two & not have to wait a week for a delivery slot. Back then they didn’t offer any “deals” – just sales like any grocery & free delivery if you ordered over like $100. I was kind of pissed back then when they started offering big discounts to new customers & I wasn’t able to use them & I do prefer buissness that reward their regular customers too. But they are just a big grocery store. I think maybe we’re expecting too much.
I’m not sayin’ this deal isn’t kinda sucky…it is, but they can’t all be winners.Everyone who brought this in error cause they didn’t read/understand the fine print, should email Groupon at support@groupon.com (or call 877- 788-7858 during normal business hours, central time) today to get a refund. We’re all human, we all make mistakes & Groupon is very customer service oriented so I’m sure they’ll help you out.
how do i find out where fresh direct delivers to?
also, lots of whiners here….sounds like my synagogue
Candice: here’s something ‘useful’ to say about Fresh Direct. Their prices aren’t great, and many times their produce is questionable. I order from them 1 to 2 times a year when I find a coupon for at least a free delivery and have a large order for holiday baking or a party. Fresh Direct has never done a thing to retain my business, and so I was pleasently surprised by this Groupon offer until I visited the webpage.
I stand by my initial comments and agree with Lizz C. As with all offers it’s important to read the fine print (which I did and made no purchase); my frustration is with Freshdirect using Groupon as just another platform for a pre-existing offer, and the manner in which it was promoted – the fine print on this one should have been in the email sent to groupon subscribers right off the bat.
What’s up w/the tiny baby letters in my posts!? I used to think it was my spellcheck, but I didn’t use it…oh well.
@ Shmuel – LMFAO! U almost made me pee my pants. Enter your zip on FD’s home page & if they don’t deliver to you, it will say so on the next page.
Lina L, I could use some more clarification. I ordered this groupon as I have been wanting to try fresh direct and this seemed like a good opportunity. I just received confirmation from Groupon that I received it. Am I supposed to wait for redemption instructions from Groupon or from Fresh Direct? Should I wait until I have the code to set up a Fresh Direct account? (Sounds like I shouldn’t—that I should go ahead and set up an account but wait to purchase until I receive redemption instructions) Just want to be super clear on this as I’m not in a financial position to waste $25.
How do I activate this groupon with Fresh Direct?

Hi all,
The Groupon is good towards delivery.
Logan – Open up your Groupon and you will see in the redemption instructions what to do! You will need to register and fill out a form online!
Cheers,
Lina
Groupon
the address that they tell you to go to redeem the groupon – http://bit.ly/60LXOf.com – doesn’t work??
Lina, you mentioned that the groupon is one per household. What if you live with roommates but all have separate accounts with FD and order your groceries separately? We still can’t each use a groupon?
Lina L. – still trying to get answer to my earlier question (echoed by Jessica F.). Thanks!
—
Hi Lina. I live in a apartment with a couple other people. If two of us buy the Groupon can we both use it? They will be separate FD accounts, but the same exact address. Please advise.
Lina-
My husband recently (in the past week I believe) opened an account, but we haven’t ordered anything. Can I use my groupon for his account? I was going to try it, but I don’t want to open up the coupon in case I need to cancel.
Lina-Please disregard my previous question. I called Fresh Direct and they reminded me that even if you have a newly opened account, as long as you haven’t ordered anything from them, you can still use the groupon.
Really bad. I got it thinking I was qualified, and I now see I am not.
This is a terrible offer – it should be stated very clearly (not in the fine print) that this is for new customers only. Knowing how many people in the city use fresh direct, groupon should not have accepted this “deal”. I’ve been pretty impressed with Groupon thus far, and look forward to receiving the email because they are usually relevant/useful offers. This one was pretty pathetic. If more like these start coming through im unsubscribing…
I for one have been skeptical about trying out fresh direct, not being sure about the quality of their produce… this is a great way for me to try it out! Dina, although not every single groupon may be relevant to you, I think it would be your loss if you unsubscribed… you’d be missing out on a lot of great deals!

Hi guys -
1 Groupon per household – so regardless of room mates or anything only 1 will be valid.
Dina- I apologize – our fine print is where all the outlines of a Groupon are listed. I am sorry that this one is not for you.
Thank you,
Lina
Groupon
I can’t use this groupon since I"ve ordered from Fresh Direct before. However, my roommate and I do not shop together. We purchase groceries separately. She has been thinking of going with Fresh Direct. Can she use this groupon, even though some one (me) in her “Household” has ordered from Fresh Direct already? -jessica
When one signs up with FD when/how does one notify FD about the Groupon (sorry for being dense on this, but it is a bit confusing)? I would also appreciate answers to my earlier questions (towards the beginning of the discussion).
As for all the complaining that’s been going on in this forum, while I understand the frustration, it is very irritating to have to sift through repetitive complaints to find actual information. One should ALWAYS read the fine print before purchasing anything, Groupons included!! Personally I think this is a great deal for those who can use it, and for those who can’t – wait ‘till tomorrows deal. There are always going to be deals that don’t apply to someone or other which is why it’s so great that there’s a new one every day or two.
There is a HUGE difference between “one per person” and “one per household.” Come on, this is NYC we are talking about here. A very good percentage of residents have roommates. Groupon needs to do something about this immediately.
Lina,
The Fine Print says “Limit 1 per person.” You’re now saying that it’s limited to one per household? Shouldn’t you change the Fine Print if that’s the case?
I cancelled mine – no problem just go to " your groupons" and follow prompts to change order and then it says cancel my order .. poof its cancelled .
I did the same as others and didnt realize the fine print …

Wow – Groupon really dropped the ball on this one! I was disappointed too when I read the fine print (which was also very incomplete and lame) that was not included in the email. I just hope Groupon thinks these offers through next time before posting.

Hi all -
My apologies – this Groupon is 1 per Household. These are FD’s regulations and nothing can be done – if you purchased this Groupon in error – you are more than welcome to cancel your order.
Best,
Lina

Eek! Only ONE per household? Lame!! I bought one for me and one for my husband… Boooooooooo… Ugh. Now I have to cancel one of them. Lame-o!
Sorry … first comment was premature: Yes it sucks that the Groupon is one per household. Yes, it sucks that FD already offers deals just like this or even better for first time customers. Yes yes yes…
But. All of the Groupon deals have been awesome. It’s no wonder that we would immediately flock to this one too. I have started to become a FD customer many times in the past and have yet to do it, this might be the way they finally get me to join their fold. For that only is why I think it’s a tremendously GREAT Groupon for FD.
Lina: thanks for all your answers above. Sadly I’m going to cancel one of my groupons purchased today, but such is. Thanks again.

I knew the moment that I read the subject line this morning that as weekly customers of FreshD, we’d be excluded from the offer, so I spared myself the disappointment. My husband however got all excited when he got the email which frankly I thought was naive of him. I would bet that Groupon didn’t expect so much overlap between their subscribers and FreshDirect customers. This would have been better as a side deal with “First Time Customers” clearly in the headline. Also, this is not the first Groupon offer that is similar or equal to a deal that the featured vendor already offers. That’s ok with me, since I assume others are seeing it for the first time and it’s good for them.
I’m with Shakti. Although I’m disappointed I can’t use it, it’s a good deal for some. I agree with the others who’ve inferred that the problem lies in the description of the offer. I did understand what the offer was by reading the fine print, but there were obviously other questions (ie; household vs. customer) that ideally should have been included. To me, that was the only fault of Groupon’s. Aside from that, it would have been nice for Fresh Direct to do something for current customers, but again, that’s not a Groupon thing. (And if anyone from Fresh Direct is reading this, I have to say that if you had to put a stipulation on the time line from a last order, 2 years is a bit over the top!)
Has anyone else not received confirmation after they bought it? I thought my order didn’t go thru so I cancelled it and re-bought and still have not received confirmation.
I cancelled my order. I’ve never ordered through Fresh Direct but I’ve had an account with them for a while and the fine print on this Groupon was vague enough that I didn’t know if they’d honor the Groupon. Plus, the deal isn’t so great; I can do better comparison shopping at supermarkets and picking out my own food—and not paying for delivery.
How do I get a refund for this purcahse? I’m already a Fresh Direct customer. This transaction was very unclear. It was my first purchase on Groupon and I suspect, my last.
I just cancelled my order by going into “My Groupons” and clicking “Edit Purchase.” Then I just cancelled, and a note came up saying I would receive a refund to my account.

Hello to everyone -
I apologize for all this confusion and would normally answer all of you individually, but I wouldn’t be finished by midnight!
Fresh Direct does offer other deals – I have been told that the deals may consist of free delivery or 25% off your order. So you would have to spend $100 to get the $25 off.
You can also with this Groupon spend only $50 if you wish.
Today’s Groupon is for new customers or those that have not been customers since 1/1/2008
This has a limit of 1 per household and can not be redeemed more than 1 time per address.
When you receive your Groupon-which can be retrieved at the top right-hand side of the site under “MY STUFF”;
you need to follow the redemption instructions within 3 days of today. There is a registration page and a form page you need to fill out. You should receive your promo code linked to your email address within 7 days of completing those steps.
After you register within 3 days – you then have 9 months or until 10/7/10 to place a delivery.
You can use this Groupon to go to your office if FD delivers there!
This can not be gifted to someone who already has FD going to their address.
I understand people’s reservations, however it is important to note that FINE PRINT should always be noted and that there will be other Groupons valid only for new clients/customers only.
Groupon strives to feature the best things to experience in your city and we try to do that for all our subscribers on a daily basis. That being said, sometimes these will be things, services, products, etc that you’ve already experienced and may not be valid to you.
BUT I hope you all keep coming back because we work really hard to try and make our subscribers happy and I am sorry that today’s Groupon may not be for you.
WE LOVE YOU GUYS!

This is definitely a case of buyer beware, and I see that they posted the fine print, but this was clearly intended to mislead. I won’t be purchasing anything from this vendor again.
Lina,
I purchased my coupon and it continues to say it is processing my purchase and I have yet to receive an email of confirmation. I cannot redeem the coupon if I haven’t received confirmation, correct? I will cancel it before the end of the day if I do not receive confirmation or else I am worried I will lose $25.
Thanks
See, Lina, what’s annoying is that in the redemption instructions, you say, “There is a registration page and a form page you need to fill out.” If I’m already registered, which I am, I don’t want to get an error code telling me I’m not eligible (which I should be, since I’ve never actually placed an order).

Jessica – Due to traffic, processing is taking a little bit longer than normal. Your purchase IS registered and you will receive your Groupon soon.
Carli – If you’re already registered and never placed an order – you’re okay, all you have to do is everything else BUT register and make sure you fill the form out with your original registration information.
Thank you,
Lina
Groupon
OK, one more question. . . if I cancelled my order, can I re-place it? And how can I tell if I was charged the first time? I don’t want my credit card charged twice. Thanks.

What if you try to get around it by using a different e-mail / credit card – can you use it then?
HI Lina,
I understand the processing is delay, but how long is it delayed? Thanks so much! I LOVE Groupon and the fine print!

25% off first order is much better, just spend over 100, really easy to do.. i mean damn a 6-pack is over $10 these days
i got pretty excited about this deal but we got owned by the fine print

thanks laura k. i will give it a try anyway- which is what groupon is great for. spending less money on what you might not otherwise spend your money on. for all of you hating on groupon, shame on you. get over it. groupon is great for what it is. i love groupon and am grateful to have been able to get several cheapo deals on this site! thanks!
Where are the instructions on how and where to register?
Is this coupon valid for buying wine from freshdirect?
also, can i combine promo codes, such as free delivery “FDDELIVERSCRT” with my groupon order?
thanks
Lina-
I am having the same trouble with registering. I recieved an email saying my order went through, and a link to print it, but where do I register? Where do I find the redemtion instructions? There are none on the website and none in my email. Is it on the printout? I am nervous to print it in case it does not work and then I can’t return it. I am a new customer.

Jessica- You will not lose any money – if you don’t receive a confirmation – you will by tomorrow morning.
Carli – You can place the order again – when you go to purchase if you have purchased more than 1 it will show.
SM- You can not do that FD will not honor it.
Brian – Thanks and we love you! It may take till tonight or tomorrow AM but you will get it!
Sean – I am sorry you feel that way, the Fine Print did not mean to own you. I don’t know if 25% is an actual current offer. Thanks for stopping by!
Candice – Thanks!
CAtherine – Instructions on your Groupon.
Rosalie – You can use your Groupon toward anything – I am not sure about the delivery code.
Kjerstina – You do not have to print anything – it is in your Groupon box. The actual Groupon not the email has all the instructions.
Best,
Lina

I just created a freshdirect account today, but have never ordered. can i still use this deal?
I just created a freshdirect account today, but have never ordered. can i still use this deal?

Devona – As long as no one else in your household has – yes!
it also takes 7 days once you go through all this hassle to get the coupon from Fresh Direct. So be prepared that you can’t use it right away. WHAT A PAIN!

Brian – FD has 7 days to send it to you but you should receive it sooner!

Hi Lina, I cannot find the registration instructions in the Groupon link that’s in “My Stuff”. Do I need for the offer to close before I receive it?
I know my roommate has used freshdirect before but I have not Nordo I have an account- the above answers confuse me- just because we gave the same address I cannot do this? Even though, the point, getting a new customer , would be acheived?

Hi Sasha –
Unfortunately this is the way FD is set up.
Thanks,
Lina
Groupon
Personally I think it’s crazy that we’re being punished by Freshdirect for supporting their business! I assume the fine print was provided by FD and not Groupon. As such, I sent a message through the FD website to complain, basically. If anyone else thinks it’s lame of them to deny loyal customers a deal, then send them a message!!
Have to agree with everyone here who stated disappointment with the fine print on this deal. I was so excited to get $25 off, but I guess if you’re a loyal customer they don’t want your business. So sad.
I would like to suggest that Groupon add a “Rate this Groupon” feature. It would curtail many of these comments. This discussion thread has the most entries by far, Groupon and Fresh Direct should take the hint that this offer is poor and somewhat misleading. This offer does pale in comparison to other Groupon offers as it excludes far too many customers and can be obtained without purchasing a Groupon.
I will have to cancel mine since it’s not clear how you have to activate it. I don’t want to loose $25
I cancelled, too. Seemed good at first, but…
So pissed. This is my first time on Groupon and i already feel scammed.
RIDICULOUS & DISAPPOINTING. Anyone can get this deal on the Fresh Direct website or through the mail on a bi-weekly basis. This deal is NOT exclusive to Groupon, it excludes masses of people who are not first time customers (this is New York, half the city already uses FD!) and further excludes potential customers because of address restrictions (again, this is New York. We have roommates).
Is this really the best that Groupon can offer in 2010? Whatever happened to LOAYLTY? Obviously that question is no longer reserved just for shamed politicians. Both GROUPON and FD are bound to lose as many customers through this as they gain.
I am a first time customer at FD but I also cancelled my order. It seems way too complicated to get this groupon activated/registered.
I cancelled my order, too. It was a gift for my boyfriend, who would have been a new customer, but I just don’t want to give them the business.
I’ll say it again- for all of you current FD customers: go to the website and tell them how much this sucks! I very much doubt that Groupon is responsible for the fine print…
I just tried to open up the file and print it but it said the file couldn’t be opened because it is damaged. Did anyone else get this message? This is my first time using Groupon. What should I do?
I think you are going to have a lot of pissed off people when they realize the fine print is incredibly ridiculous. I only noticed the details when I came back to tell my friend about it. Normally the details are just expiration dates, not something like this. I cancelled immediately but I’m willing to bet there are going to be 1000s of people who won’t realize until it’s too late. Wouldn’t want to be in Groupon’s shoes when this one hits the fan.
I printed out the Groupon and tried to open the registration site.
It does not work http://bit.ly/60LXOf
What should I do?
Couldn’t Groupon expedite this registration with Fresh Direct for all of us who purchased the coupon?
Oh Crap! – I swear I read it and thought it was 2009 even called my husband to find out if he ordered in the last week. Just logging on to activate and saw these comments and are really mad.

This sucks. I can’t tell you how many times I have been screwed out of discounts due to “Fresh Direct’s” fine print. Can’t wait to see how this pans out.

….which is how I, like others, new to read the fine print before falling for another fast one on FDs part. I don’t see Groupon as being at fault, esp., if they are making cancellation of orders possible.
I responded to an e-mail offer from FD for a discount on six months of delivery…turns out two of those months, anyone using a coupon code got FREE Delivery on any order placed.
Thanks Groupon for this deal! My friend got a great deal from FD back in 2006 (50% off 1st two purchases), and I’ve been waiting for something close to as good try it out and have only seen the 25% off or free shipping. I also like how you position the fine print front and center on the deal page – I always know where to look to quickly get the important details. It’s also great that you mention there is a pick up place in LIC in the description – I didn’t know that and might be able to take advantage of it!

This promo is exactly what I have been looking for! I have been curious about Fresh Direct for some time and now I have no more excuses. I can’t wait to use this Groupon!! :) Thanks
Sorry to those who feel left out.

I love how your photo has a smile. You must have rolled your eyes a thousand times by now. You should get a medal for handling these babies. I’m new to Groupon but looks like I should fasten my seatbelt coz it’s gonna be a bumpy ride!

Hello all,
If this Groupon doesn’t work for you – please know you can refund it.
Jose-
Thank you! I leave you with my friend Dionne Warwick…

Groupon
This was my first groupon purchase – do I have to call in to refund? I read this entire thread and I see in the beginning you said to click on “change order” to refund - where is this link found? I already have the confirmation email saying my purchase went through.
This Groupon has gotten one of the largest responses I have ever seen … so the site (both GRpOn & FD) must have been super busy with the rush.
Too bad the ‘instant gratification’ group was so sour about the terms and conditions,
Guess that bunch doesn’t like to READ either.
They just want what they want when they want it.
Too bad if you insist on getting your refund … you will be missing out on getting a good deal and very good food.
I signed up shortly before midnight and waited until after midnight to register at FD.
Now I will go to the 2nd link to complete the form to get my promotion code.
Easy does it folks … patience is a virtue! Good things come to those who wait!
The address http://bit.ly/4o3569 to complete the Groupon processing form DOES NOT WORK! Now I cannot enter my Groupon ID anywhere.
Lina?
Can I still cancel this Groupon order, now that the deal has closed?? LINA PLEASE HELP, thanks
If it’s allowed, I will buy one of these groupons from one of you. I missed the deadline for buying last night.
Post here if you’d like me to buy yours. Thanks!
I echo Sarah H.’s comment – the address for the Groupon processing is DOWN. Lina, what can we do?
This was very unclear-I ordered it but realized it is for first time or customers who have not ordered for years-what about LOYAL customers!!!!
This was very unclear-I ordered it but realized it is for first time or customers who have not ordered for years-what about LOYAL customers!!!!
the bit.ly link is indeed dead. http://bit.ly/4o3569
As others have mentioned, the “Activation” link doesn’t work.
Personally, I find it a bit ridiculous that one has to “activate” a coupon that’s been paid for within three days. The client (FreshDirect) should know how many coupons have been purchased. It just smacks of the typical nonsense one has to go through to get a rebate…“do this, then do that, then do this, then cut out that, and if you don’t do this…you’re screwed.” Come on. Keep it simple. You pay, you get a coupon, and that’s that. If you still want people to “activate”, don’t put a time limit on it.
I know there will be some who will say “it’s no big deal…just do it”. But we live in an era of technology. This stuff should be one-click easy to do. If it isn’t, there’s a problem with the delivery model. Fix it, or you’ve lost a Groupon participant and gained an online critic.
very inconvenient- can someone please assist with the link to the processing form??
http://bit.ly/4o3569 is not working. Have tried it several times. Has anyone had success?
Lina, please respond to this inquiry ASAP, as we only have 3 days to activate our groupon and many others have asked this same question. Step 2 on the groupon says to go to http://bit.ly/4o3569 to complete the groupon processing form. This link DOES NOT work. Please tell us what to do, since it is too late to cancel our orders.
Interestingly, the activation link finally worked for me.
The Link is not working for me either, this is rediculous, we only have 3 days to redeem and yet we can’t even do so. I’ve emailed customer service lets see if they get back to me.
I’m having the same problem with Step 2: go to http://bit.ly/4o3569 to complete the groupon processing form. This link is NOT working.
Can anyone tell me what to do?
Same problem with the link here too. It directs to a completely useless parked domain page. Come on Goupon, get it together…
I emailed their support – a direct response or even a forum response would be super great.
If you’re getting the parking page, try Firefox
Landing on the same useless page in Chrome, Firefox and IE
Odd, I get the parking page in IE, but get the proper form in Firefox now
I tried it using Firefox just now, it’s still not working.
I am having the same issue with step 2 – I get sent to linescale.com
HELP!!
I get sent to linescale.com also. How do we activate this?!?!
The links work fine for me. Whether in Safari or Firefox. This is at 10:25am Thursday morning. Make sure you don’t copy any extra spaces, either in the beginning or end of the URL.
On another note, I’m shocked at how many whiners there are on this discussion page. This entire order is so simple to understand. People make a big deal about things. If you don’t like the terms, skip the deal and wait for another.
FD was simply trying to acquire new customers or reactivate some older ones. 5,793 people bought this deal. I would call that a very nice success.
Stop complaining about the little things in life. There are far bigger concerns out there.
Groupon – You did nothing wrong here. Don’t let a few complainers stop you from exploring all kinds of offers.
Hey – Obviously, I didn’t get my coupon yet, although I signed up yesterday. Should I have received the notification of coupon already? If so, how do I get it?
I’m also getting sent Linescale on Safari and Firefox…
ugh, i purchased this 24 hours ago and it continues to say it is processing my purchase! i understand there is a lot of traffic but really?!?
I ordered this groupon yesterday and then my roommate just tells me today that she just placed her first order with fresh direct so now I can no longer use it. Is there any way to cancel it?
The second link is dead, what is going on here??
@Todd,
This is what the discussion is for. I enjoy Groupon but if I need to complain or argue about something I will.
Everyone else:
Someone who occupied my apartment before me (not my current roommate, the previous leasee) had signed up for FreshDirect, thus negating this deal for me. I called Fresh Direct and they fixed the error in under 30 seconds. They were very nice and helpful. If anyone else is coming up with this issue, I would call Fresh Direct(ly), not Groupon.
Anne S. -
If groupon support informs me it is not possible to “return” a groupon, I would be glad to sell it to you.

Hi all – FD has been notified about the link – for some reason it works for some and not for others.
FD has extended the registration time through the weekend – so no worries.
In addition – Groupon would never deny you a refund if you no longer qualify for the Groupon.
We will get back to you and thank you for your patience.
Lina
Groupon
everyone- i wasn’t able to access the link through my computer but i sign on a friend’s computer who has the more updated IE and it worked. maybe try upgrading your browser and you may be able to get to the link. good luck!
I have not order from Fresh Direct since 2007. Do I need to open a new account for this groupon?
I created my account with fresh direct. Now how do I complete the groupn processing form, enter my ID# and the email I have registered with fresh direct?
Please help.
The link http://bit.ly/4o3569 brings me no where but to a linescale.com website.
I received the following message when I tried to follow step 1:
Please Note: Some of the information you provided matches an existing account, so we are unable to extend our current promotions to you (one per household). If you believe you should be eligible for promotions, please contact our Customer Service Team at 1-212-796-8002 before completing Checkout.
Please advise.
Thanks,
CLJ
Neither link works. I will be canceling this Groupon.

Bought Groupon, received Groupon, registerd with FD, actived my Groupon, ready to go shopping. What is the problem with you people? relax, it’s a $25 dollar coupon!
I actually haven’t ordered in over 2 years, so I’m one of the few who can actually use this groupon. However, they’re making us jump through a ton of hoops to get it. After being charged immediately the $25 on my debit card, It took over an hour to get an email that it was processed. Then, after more waiting, I got instructions to go to a third party website where I had to put in my Groupon info and my FreshDirect info and was told I’d get my credit within 7 days. Today i got another email asking me to go to another website to (I’m assuming) do the same thing as yesterday. Right there in the email, it says to email FreshDirect directly if the link doesn’t work…which it didn’t. So I emailed them and still don’t have a coupon, credit or status update. In this day and age of computer purchasing technology, how difficult is it to charge me and provide a credit code that I can go on the site with and use? I had really hoped to place an order yesterday after paying my $25 so I could get delivery today because I don’t have to work. This feels like some sort of scam.
this may be a dumb question, but which number does “groupon id” refer to? is this my member ID on the groupon site? or is it the big number that appears on the print-out of my groupon?
the link isnt working for me either, where do i find my account id?
thanks
Just called the #877 number. They guy was very nice and said he has gotten a lot of calls today about this deal. He walked me through and I told him the linescale page wasnt working. He said I had to email support, cause there was nothing more he could do. I love this coupon but it seems its causing way too much confusion and aggravation.
I called the 877 number too and they apologized for the problem and refunded me.
I noticed other people had this problem: they left out the “www” on the email link, the URL should be http://www.linescale.com/perl/ls/run/s084-56233.pl
Everything worked out fine for me, I got my apartment added and signed up for an account, just waiting for the email with the check-out code. This was a great idea for people who usually go to TJs to buy their groceries, so don’t let all the complainers outweigh the success of this Groupon!
P.S. I have a question – if I place an order in the next few days while I’m waiting for my coupon code, is that going to void my eligibility?
Your ID is on top of your coupon from groupon. Just heard back from customer service!
OMG I cancelled this Fresh Direct Groupon order today through e-mail because we bought more than one due to the ‘one per person’ initial fine print, that was changed to ‘one per household’. Got confirmation this was cancelled and refunded, done. But then JUST NOW, 22 HOURS after the Groupon closed, I received an e-mail that ANOTHER fresh direct Groupon was purchased?? Can you say glitch! And using my credit card without authorization!!!! Seriously upset right now. Just fair warning, as much as I love Groupon, perhaps its not the safest to store your credit card information with them. You might have purchases made for you by accident.
This was a very bad promotion! Too many rules and restrictions.
Can someone post once they receive the FD coupon (not the Groupon code). I am eligible but have not received it yet.
Kalee … you should contact Groupon … I’m sure they can straighten it out.
FYI everyone else:
I bought the groupon for Fresh Direct … but since I won’t get the confirmation from FD for up to 7 days … and being that I need to eat …
I went to my tried and true Trader Joe’s to fill in what I needed.
This was what I got and what it cost:
*1/2 gal Orange/Peach/Mango juice 2.69
Maple Granola - 16 oz 2.69
22 oz Manderin Orange Chicken dinner 4.99 (this is their top selling item)
2 Hansen’s Root beer sodas in cans .90
Artisan Sourdough Rolls (6 pk) 1.99
11 oz domestic Swiss Cheese 2.99
Brown Rice Medley – 16 oz 1.99
Herbed Goat Cheese Log – 5 oz 2.49
Ground Cinnamon 1.5 oz 1.99
Banana .19
With taxes and bottle deposit total came to $24.93
Comparable products at Fresh Direct:
*1/2 gal Tropicana Orange/Pineapple juice 2.59
Health Valley Granola Van/Alm flavor 12.5 oz 2.59
20 oz Jerk Marinated Chicken Breasts 8.74
2 A&W Root beers in a can .73
6 sour dough Rolls 3.99
Lundberg Blend – Gourmet Brown Rice blend 3.49
Chavrie Basil & Rstd Garlic Goat cheese 5.3oz 4.99
Ground Cinnamon 2.4 oz 3.39
1 banana .26
With taxes and bottle deposit total came to $36.55
So I would have $7.66 more to spend with my discount (the rest would go to delivery charges).
Gee I’d never shop at Fresh Direct without this kind of discount!
STILL CAN"T FIND THE GROUPON ID!!! HELP!
Groupon gave me a full refund for this purchase, even though it was my mistake for misreading terms of service. They were VERY QUICK to do it too.
Good!! I knew they would …. they are very honest, fair and accommodating!
Hope you have better luck with your next Groupon!

@Everyone who cannot find their Groupon ID#-
Sorry you’re having some trouble locating the Groupon ID. On your actual solid Groupon (which you could view after printing or in print preview) you’ll see a number in the top right portion of the page. There is a number that looks similar to this: #12345-6 . This is your Groupon I.D. number.
I hope this helps answer some of those questions.
Josh
Customer Support
Every time I try to sign up for an account on Fresh Direct I get a message saying that they are having technical difficulties and to try later. Calling Fresh Direct, I was met with the same response.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
UPDATE on the cost of my shopping list …
I left out the Swiss Cheese from my Fresh Direct list.
11 oz of domestic Swiss Cheese is $4.12 at FD
That brings my real total at Fresh Direct to $40.67 and after deducting the delivery fee that would leave me with $3.54 to buy something else.
Again, I’d never do this without the Groupon!!

This is a cluster… They should have made things a lot clearer.
I still HAVE NOT received my FD coupon/credit. What’s up with that?
i did everything correct, the link didnt work so i emailed groupon/freshdirect on THURSDAY, i didnt receive a reply, now its monday, looks like i just lost 25 dollars! what a waste of money and TIME.
I also have not received credit or any contact?
I can not get either link to work and do not understand the instructions:
1. Go to http://bit.ly/60LXOf to register with
FreshDirect within 3 days of receipt of
Groupon.
2. Go to http://bit.ly/4o3569 and complete the
Groupon processing form, enter your Groupon
ID# and the email address you registered on
FreshDirect.
Am I going to get the deal since my credit card has been charged? The three day thing is really unfair and that it doesn’t work makes it impossible.
Try http://www.linescale.com/perl/ls/run/s084-56233.pl to get your groupon processed.
Lets just face it – this was the worst groupon EVER!!!
I’ve never seen so many issues….

I am hoping that the groupon support answers my questions. This is my first groupon purchase and it seems the instructions were not that clear based on what I am reading here. I still have not received the promotion code either and followed all directions as instructed. Let’s see what happens.
I will canceling my Groupon emails and will spread the word. I am so disgusted with this coupon. I missed the 3 day ridiculous deadline to activate my account? I cannot trust Groupon now. These deals need to be answered swiftly and need to be simple as it is not a deal to me to have to make sure I check it in time to activate an account in THREE DAYS after purchase. I liked Groupon ONLY because it was truly a deal and I didn’t have to INVESTIGATE the deal to make sure it wasn’t a scam. That’s the whole point Groupon why you’ve built a trusted customer base. Lose that trust, your product has no worth. I have requested of Groupon to refund my money as I have never been a customer of Fresh Direct but after this, I don’t wish to be. i will stick with my health food market near my house where there is no bull, just honest, knowledgeable, helpful people selling great products at great prices. In case you’re in the area it’s ironically called Fresh Start. It’s location is 23 ave at 31st st in astoria. Actual address is 29-13 23rd Ave., Astoria, NY 11105
(718) 204-7868 and their website www.fsorganic.com -I can’t say enough about this market. I just looked on their website. They do have online shopping but you have to pick up. Food is fantastic. Goodbye Groupon members…Good Luck
I must apologize right now to Groupon. While I was typing the above complaint they had already sent me an email saying “no problem, your refund is in process.” This is the right thing to do. The reason I was untrusting was because of the inadequate response I received from Fresh Direct after writing them last night. I was expecting the same thing from Groupon and I was wrong. After receiving Fresh Direct’s response I wrote back to Fresh Direct again expressing disappointment and making an excellent and accurate point in Fresh Direct’s mistaken response. Their comment box states they will respond within 3 hours. I have not heard back because they do not have a good customer policy, therefore when they’re challenged on their mistake they have no resource to access. Just a big heartless factory churning out as much product as they can to make as many immediate dollars as they can. Maybe they started out with good company intentions but it appears that good old greed has grasped the hands of Fresh Direct. I will remain with Groupon as they have regained my trust and wish to offer a truly good Product. Thank you Groupon. Keep up the Good Work!
received my promo code on tuesday via email from freshdirect!
I feel duped by this deal. I purchased it only to realize that as an already existing FreshDirect customer — the deal is only good if I did NOT place an order since 1/1/10. Why is that a deal breaker? Why a recent order prevent me from participating in this groupon. Now, I have to request a refund — but really I WANTED to participate in this Groupon. I ask tptb @ Groupon to not allow such exclusions for future participants — they are not fair, nor reasonable, nor necessary.

@Groupon, also — it would be great to be able to view most recent comments top/down. Thanks!!!
Received the code yesterday. Had to call FD directly, since I am a pre 1/1/08 customer, and got an error online. After all is said and done -it worked.
I still have not received my FreshDirect promo code, I highly urge people to not use this service as it is not as convenient as you think. What was thought to be an immediate promo turned out to be a nightmarish process, where I was required to call both Groupon and Freshdirect on multiple occasions. If you want to save yourself a whole lot of time and frustration, be very wary of this site, and question what they really promote. I signed up for the promotion in the first week of Jan and I still have not received the “promo” code for FreshDirect, even with multiple emails and phone calls.
I have not received my groupon either and find it very disappointing. I signed up for this so I could send groceries to my daughter who is in college in NY….. I have had so many positive experiences with groupons, but this one has really left me rather discouraged.
I don’t think I was accepted…. how do I get a refund? or how do I know if this actually worked? I’m confused, too broke to loose $25.
is there any update on that one?
I paid my coupon and did not get anything..
very disapointing…

I purchased this Groupon and utilized it soon after I received the e-mail. It was a great way to find out FeeshDirect. I plan to use FreshDirect more often based on it. Thanks!

So to be clear, someone with a previous account can only purchase if they have not placed an order in 2 years and 5 days?
