Supportive housing programs are one of the most cost-effective approaches to homelessness by providing permanent, affordable housing along with supportive services to help tenants suffering from disabilities, addictions, and other issues. The Friends House accommodates 50 men and women living with AIDS who were formerly without a home, while also providing vital services to maintain their well-being. Each resident has a studio apartment including a bath and kitchenette, and shares communal areas that consist of lounges, a library, and computer lab. The organization also provides nutritional, vocational, and recreational programs designed to help tenants gain stability in their lives.
Residents in the Friends House are often low income and often lack the means to cover essentials for daily living. Many new tenants come from transitional programs and have few belongings to make their living spaces into homes including basic items like bed or bath linens. The simple donation of a fresh set of sheets can add a level of comfort and make new apartments feel more like a true "home".
Join G-Team and donate $15 to help outfit the Friends House with new bed linens. If G-Team members raise $750, then 15 residents will receive a complete set including pillowcases, a flat sheet, and fitted sheet, and if we can raise $2,500, then every resident of the Friends House will get a new set of linens.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
