the fine print is – you have to buy the items at full price.
wanted to buy the forever love bouquet – but i had to pay 49.99 vs the 39 sale price

steve c.

WOW – I HOPE THE PEOPLE WHO BUY THIS ACTUALLY READ WHAT THEY ARE BUYING BECAUSE THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS ARE SUBSTANTIAL AND NOT LISTED IN THE FINE PRINT:

1) MINIMUM SHIPPING IS $20 – SAY GOODBYE TO SAVINGS AS MANY TIMES SHIPPING IS DISCOUNTED SUBSTANTIALLY WITH THEIR CURRENT PROMOS THAT YOU CAN’T GET IF YOU BUY THIS GROUPON

2) MUST BE REDEEMED at the following website: www.ftd.com/groupon. SO IF A ITEM IS ON SALE AND I NEVER BOUGHT FROM FTD WHEN SOMETHING WASN’T ON SALE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET THE SALE PRICE AS ALL PRICES ARE AT LEAST THEIR RETAIL PRICE
3)

Jackie K.

Not accepting delivery dates for Feb 13 and 14.

Brian

A waste of $20.

Shannon O.

WOW – Thanks for your comments which helped me determine it’s NOT a good buy!

Michael B.

Thanks, seemed like a no-brainer at first, but now…no dice.

Eric B.

Buyer beware! Just read the Yelp reviews. Almost all were negative!

Maura B.

Ugh. I just bought it like an idiot without reading the fine print. I’m such an idiot. What a waste. I should have known it was too good to be true.

Jeremy O.

I think that Groupon is starting to focus more on making money, than pleasing its customers. YouSwoop, LivingSocials, etc. here we come

Juan C.

Thanks for the comments fellow grouponers!

Was about to purchase for mothers day, but the RIDICULOUS minimum $25.99 delivery charges spoiled the deal. The groupon will likely only cover delivery and tax leaving us stuck with non-sale prices!

I wish i would have looked here earlier, I noticed that a lot of their product is not available to ship on valentines day. They are quite horrible with nothing being under $40. I wish I would not hve bought 2 groupons!

jon n.

Also, you must go to ftd.com/groupon to see the products available. Not all products are available

Jason P.

Any groupon that you purchase today can still be cancelled…so cancel away once you realize how this is not a deal at all. That’s what I did.

Michael B.

Don’t buy it. If you bought it already, listen to Jason and cancel it.

Andrew F.

Hey Everyone

Thanks for your interest in the FTD deal today! Here are some answers to a few frequently asked questions.

A benefit of the Groupon redemption bonus is that it is available on ALL products on www.ftd.com/groupon. Your $20 redemption bonus will be deducted from your total in the checkout at www.ftd.com/groupon. As with common industry practice, the Groupon redemption bonus cannot be combined with other discounts.

Andrew…how is that common? If I go to Kohl’s with a 10% off coupon, I get that on top of any other discounts. Now it might be like that at some places but its far from common and most of those practices are not deals where you have to front the money, they are free coupons that you send out to everyone. This is an uncommon practice and this is a very shady, poorly done deal. I’ve really lost some respect for both Groupon and FTD on this one.

steve c.

HEY ANDREW OR WHOEVER YOU ARE:
1) THERE IS NO REASON ANYONE SHOULD BELIEVE YOU ARE AFFILIATED WITH THIS GROUPON BASED ON THE INFORMATION YOU PROVIDED

2) THE ONE QUESTION THAT I THINK EVERYONE HAS IS WHY YOU ARE CHARGING PEOPLE FROM GROUPON MORE MONEY THAN YOU ARE CHARGING PEOPLE WHO JUST GO TO FTD.COM BUT I GUESS ANYONE FROM GROUPON COULD ANSWER WHY YOU SANCTION THIS TYPE OF BEHAVIOR FROM FTD

Maura B.

Thank you Jason! I didn’t realize I could cancel it. I just canceled this deal and saved myself $20. Phew!

Darshil P.

Any groupon that you purchase today can still be cancelled…so cancel away once you realize how this is not a deal at all. That’s what I did.!!!!!!

Shame on you Groupon, shame on you.

Extremely disappointed in Groupon. This is no deal at all! Plus, for those new to Groupon and not accustom to the site, the description keeps talking about Valentines Day but this can not be used till after 2/15. There is a lot of double talk in the fine print…very deceptive.
I have used Groupon many times before, and been satisfied…but this is bad.

After realizing this is a horrible deal I canceled also

Chris C.

How do you cancel once it shows up in My Groupons?

edward s.

You’re rt- I checked it out. Love the discussion area of groupon. Anyone notice last week they didn’t have the discussion section on the deals? I’ll pass on this deal, just not that good if on sale on other site. Please, all call Groupon if they remove the “discussion” board and complain! NO Censorship!

Thanks for the info! Definitely not buying this one! Almost did!!!

Priscilla C.

I purchased then read the fine print and comments—THANKS for the head’s up on the delivery charge!! I cancelled the order right away. I’ll just buy a bouquet at the hospital floral shop and deliver it myself!

Brigitte J.

I had bought it too. Good to read the reviews in time so I could cancel it.

Ezequiel A.

$15 Service Charge pretty much negates savings.

Patrick M.

how the heck do you cancel this %^#*(! order?
of course, this was my first time using groupon, too!

I tried to use it on the FTD/ groupon link, and was told the code was used already or invalid!

thanks for mentioning that you can cancel your order. go to your groupons. edit purchase. and click cancel. i will be more aware that groupon has moved from providing read deals and more towards money! i really learned my lesson and will be less trusting of these “deals”

Cynthia V.

I always read he comments and the fine print- and I, too, think groupon is not the friend it used to be overall. Deals aren’t very good anymore. I used to be a regular purchaser, but I’m being very careful.

Angie G.

NOT HAPPY WITH GROUPON. Too many “deals” are not actually deals anymore! (For this FTD Valentine’s Day Groupon, the flowers will not be delivered until AFTER Valentine’s Day, and at the same price that I usually pay for FTD flowers on Valentine’s Day when using the regular discounts.) I’m finding YouSwoop and LivingSocial are providing better deals than Groupon lately.

steve c.

THE PINK ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM IS THAT IN 36 HOURS NOBODY FROM GROUPON HAS DECIDED TO ANSWER A SIMPLE QUESTION:
WHY ARE YOU ALLOWING FTD TO CHARGE GROUPNERS MORE ON FTD.COM/GROUPON FOR THE EXACT SAME ITEM THAN THEY CHARGE ON THEIR REGULAR WEBSITE FTD.COM?

mike

with all the glitches (couldn’t log in last week, no discussion board last week) and now bad deals, I think Groupon is not ready for prime time. Should have took to the 2 billion and run.

mike

Okay so this may not be the best deal but I still LOVE Groupon. I can’t even begin to share how much fun I’ve had with the great deals Groupon has provided over the years. Groupie 4EVER!

I bought the Groupon yesterday and it worked just fine for me. I compared the cost of what I was buying on the ftd.com/groupon site to the normal ftd.com site and it was the same. Here was how my purchase worked:

Birthday Bouquet: 39.99
Shipping 14.99 (I selected same day service so expected this)
Tax: 4.53
Total: 59.51

I put in my groupon code and it subtracted the $40. I was going to send the flowers either way so this saved me $20.

Tim S.

Bought this and then immediately regretted it. As others have said, at best this groupon will get you as good of a deal as you would have gotten through FTD’s regular ‘sale’ prices. At worst, you could end up paying more. I wish I had passed on this one.

katarzyna r.

This Groupon is horrible. WHAT A RIP OFF. You end up spending $40 anyways!!!!

Yeah…I have buyers remorse right now just like everyone else who purchased this one. Sounded great, however after the ridiculous cost of the flowers and the Groupon itself, I still shelled out $60. I saw plenty of FTD specials on other sites with comparable savings.

Angie G.

Hi Becky R. (likely Groupon employee, or disillusioned consumer),

You just paid $40 for FTD Valentine’s Day flowers to be delivered on Feb 15th or later.

Two days ago, you could have spent $40 for FTD Valentine’s Day flowers to be delivered on Feb 14th if you didn’t use this rip-off Groupon.

This is because as of yesterday, delivery was AVAILABLE on the 14th, and FTD also has other promotions which would have saved you an equal amount.

Let’s think about this a little more…

If you bought a $39.99 bouquet, here’s what your Groupon/FTD order looks like:
Flowers $40
shipping $15
tax $5
Total $60

If you believe that Groupon gets 50% of the revenues from each deal, here’s what would have happened for each $39.99 flower bouquet ordered:

FTD gets $10 for flowers (from consumers)
FTD gets $20 for tax/shipping (from consumers)
Groupon gets $10 (from consumers or FTD, however you want it look at it)

In a nutshell, FTD just forked over roughly $10 to Groupon for each $39.99 order. And for this $10 per order, FTD got a ton of extra Valentine’s Day orders and publicity (hopefully enough to cover its payment to Groupon). And we all get a Valentine’s Day bouquets delivered on February 15th, for the same price as we have paid for a bouquet delivered on the 14th if we didn’t impulsively buy this annoying Groupon.

Kevin M.

For those of you complaining, price out different online flower delivery sites and I think you’ll see that it basically comes out even, so at least it’s not a ripoff … even if it’s a pretty terrible Groupon because of the steep “service fee” / delivery charges. My subtotal at FTD was $107, the Groupon brought the FTD charge to $67 / my total cost to $87. The same flowers, without a vase were $86.67 for 2/14 delivery on 800flowers.com (FTD included a vase).

So yes, terrible “deal”, but at least not a ripoff. It’s basically a Groupon for free shipping.

Angie G.

It’s not a “deal” at all. You don’t save or lose anything. (Unless you weren’t going to buy flowers until you saw this Groupon… then you lose every penny you spent).

My point is that you do not get your flowers until February 15th using this Groupon, and that’s annoying. Especially when the Groupon led you to believe you were buying VALENTINES DAY flowers. Who wants Valentine’s Day flowers on the 15th?

Not cool, Groupon!

Kevin M.

I was able to choose February 14th as my delivery date without a problem.

Angie G.

I was not able to choose Feb 14th. I guess it must depend on which city we live in? I live in Chicago.

Jason S.

BAIT & SWITCH!

Shame on Groupon. FTD jacked the prices $10 for the groupon site. The bouqet I want can’t be delivered on 2/14 but if I buy more stems, then magically it can!

FTD and their con game may be to blame here, but Groupon should not be inviting their customers to business with such companies.

Another strike against groupon on my scorecard.

Jason P.

I cancelled my order yesterday…then went over to ProFlowers and bought 2 dozen assorted roses with a vase to be delivered on 2/14 for $35.xx total using a free shipping code.

Much better deal than anything I could have found on FTD/groupon.

Mike S.

This is complete B.S. I bought a groupon for Feb 14 or sooner and I can’t get them then. Who do I need to contact for a refund; FTD or Groupon?

Benton S.

Do not buy this. Go to a local florist- you will save yourself some time, $ and headache. FTD has set up a “special” portion of their website for this groupon so you can only chose from a small selection. And shipping is between $15 & 30. Last time I buy something on Groupon without referencing the comment section. More small print wins for groupon yet again. FML.

Jim S.

@Jason the Groupon is not valid for sale items…and the prices you reference on their site are for selected items only.

@Angie delivery is still available for the 14th.

@Angie it also depends on the item you are purchasing as some are direct shipped and others are delivered by a local florist in their network.

If you are not happy please use the Groupon Promise and email Groupon at support@groupon.com or call 1 (877) 788-7858 (during normal business hours, central time)

Melissa H.

I bought it, and it was tricky to use (because I failed to read the fine print—not the fault of Groupon or FTD). I went straight to the FTD site, ordered a $40 bouquet (plus $16 delivery, total $56) for delivery on Friday (2/11). When I got to the checkout, and found that I couldn’t enter my Groupon, I read the fine print, realized the problem, and reordered via the FTD/Groupon site. There I was charged exactly the same prices for exactly the same item (including same date and same delivery fees).

My pre-Groupon price was $56. My Groupon price was $36 ($20 paid for the Groupon, $16 to FTD at the time of the order).

$36 for delivered flowers, especially from a group of florists I have generally been satisfied with (e.g. FTD or Teleflora), seems like a good deal to me.

randal

One word 3 times, cancel, cancel, cancel. You can cancel it whenever you bought it. Just did and groupon knows about the displeasure. Customer service said don’t even bother flagging it.
Still love groupon.

Garth K.

I just canceled as well … many thanks to everyone who commented earlier!

Jim S.

Jil C sorry thought I posted in this thread yesterday. Yes I am a Groupon employee.

On the link to the FTD TOC’s it states…This Voucher cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotions, gift certificates, coupons, discounts or affiliate programs (including reward programs). Unfortunately we only have a limit on the Fine Print area so sometimes we need to link to TOC’s including ours.

Tim S.

@Jim I think the root of the disappointment here is that it is apparent that FTD is one of those sites where everything is always a “sale” price, and things are never priced at “regular” prices (i.e., even a now, their busiest season, right before V day) so much that it is not apparent that the prices you see at their website are promotional at all. Then, when we got this Groupon, we find out that we have start from higher prices than are presented at the normal FTD site which basically wash out the value of the Groupon. In my case, it was an exact wash so I don’t think it would be fair to ask Groupon to refund me under the Groupon promise, but I still feel let down by a site that is supposed to be harnessing the power of consumers working together, not suckering them.

Rick J.

I should have read the comments before buying this groupon. Absolutely NO savings. Would have done better on my own. I am pretty close to signing on to Groupout. And FTD should be ashamed.

i am so sorry i got involved in this mess. like others, i never saw anything about the service fee. what bs. 20 bucks for what? there went my groupon savings. all i wanted to do was something nice for my daughter and my new grandson. now i am out all this money. i am a disabled vet and every dollar counts . oh well . my loss.
PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THIS!! FTD WILL SCREW YOU ROYALLY. i am so stupid for not looking here and ftd facebook page first.

Dustin H.

Really? THIS IS NOT A GOOD DEAL

Richard just cancel it.You won’t lose your money.

Dan R.

I purchased both of these pre-and post-Valentine’s day Groupon and found the most inexpensive shipping for a dozen chocolate dipped strawberries $25.99. I didn’t realize I could cancel them and completed my order. After reading the discussion board I went back and canceled my post Valentine’s Groupon. gouging on the shipping! Come on Groupon, this is no deal!

mike

This is no groupon.. stay away. you have to pay full price, plus atleast a $20 service fee extra. I learned the hard way, read the fine print first!

seems coupon is good for 4 months starting feb 15 -june 15 ,,, yet the add in groupon says use on this valentines day ,,,,

Angie G.

@Jim S. NONE OF THE $39.99 VALENTINES DAY FLOWERS WERE AVAILABLE ON FEB 14th FOR ME. I tried all of them. Rather than defending this obviously horrible Groupon, I think that Groupon should just come clean, apologize, and give us all a $10 voucher for our next purchase.

Wow wtf, soo misleading.

I wish I would have read this first is there anyway to CANCEL???

Ken M.

A couple more scams like this and you can put a fork in groupon………………they’re done!

Jose Mario L.

Arrgh… I wish I read the discussion thread. I already ordered. I knew this deal was not that great… I should have trusted my gut. Oh well, they will forever lose me as a customer.

Eliseo M.

I cancelled mine. Worst groupon ever.

Alfredo C.

This is no deal at all, and not only that but I placed my order to be delivered today, When my wife arrived home I asked her what she thought about the present, FTD NEVER DELIVERED the roses. I am going to fight my money back, and thanks FTD and GROUPON for ruining Valentine’s Day this year.

Jason

I’ve been using Groupon almost since it started and the one thing that has changed is the pain in the ass people on these boards…

Bitch, bitch, bitch… That’s all you people do! I’m so SICK of the sense of entitlement people have on this site.

GET A LIFE!

jason, so how long you been working for groupon, ya jag

Andrea A.

This is the worst Groupon burn yet. A 20 service fee??!! Wish I would have looked at this before today so I could have canceled like some of the others. I’m done with Groupons.

Waqar A.

I feel so ripped off – FTD trying to tag with a huge service fee I never expected AND for an earliest delivery date of Feb 22 – no thanks, I can set up my own arboretum by then, and probably for less. Shame on you, Groupon and FTD. I would like my purchase cancelled and my money refunded.

Megan S.

My Groupon wouldn’t even work! I ordered the before Valentines one and when I try to use my Groupon it says invalid! I’ve called FTD customer service and they couldn’t do anything except give me the number to Groupon’s customer service. And they’re closed all weeked!! It’s crazy. Missed the special event which I bought it for. Waste of money. I feel scammed.

steve c.

http://www.upi.com/Business_News/2011/02/12/Groupon-FTD-deal-shelved-after-complaints/UPI-53271297536169/

CONGRATS ALL ON MAKING YOUR VOICES HEARD – Groupon-FTD deal shelved after complaints: Groupon has called off a pre-Valentine’s Day deal with FTD after customers complained it cost more than the florist’s standard rates.
FTD set up a phone line for Groupon customers, (855) 645-6214, and Groupon said people could e-mail support@groupon.com for a credit or refund.

Russ U.

Purchased the Groupon.

Ordered, even though prices were a bit jacked; just wanted to do the “I never do flowers, ever” thing, especially on Valentine’s Day.

They never arrived today.

My attempts at requesting a status update from FTD have resulted in:

A web page stating:

Order Status Request Confirmation

Your order is being processed by a local FTD florist. We will check with the florist on your order number XXXXXXXXX and provide you with a status update via email at email@email.com.

Thank you for using FTD.com.
=

I called FTD. Multiple times. Every time I requested Customer Service, I enjoyed the fast busy signal and then was disconnected.

I called Sales, who was upset at my trickery, yet they transferred me to a human who has me on hold while he calls a local florist to find out what’s going on.

Lo and behold, I’m assured that the flowers are on the truck and out for delivery—but guess what, they were going to a business address, which means that it’s pretty much not going to arrive during business hours, which means that this is a complete and total failure—but no one bothers to contact us to ask if this is acceptable or to let us know. Why else would you inform FTD that this is a business address?

After many, many minutes on hold, FTD has refunded my money, but a refund doesn’t fix the lack of flowers delivered on Valentine’s Day and leaves me with a Groupon I do not want nor need.

This is my second bout of lousy customer service on a Groupon, unfortunately.

i got roses that were sent on 14feb11 when opened box half the leaves and flowers fell off and the leaves, that should have been green, were yellow indicating they were in the box for quite some time, probably why leaves fell off. totally rediculous groupon should be embarresed buy promotting such garbage i will dispute this charge on my credit card and i suggest any one else who was ripped off do the same.

It’s 9:14 p.m. and still no delivery. And FTD has not replied to any inquiries via email. Their phone lines are busy. Frustrating and terrible. I won’t even talk about the “sale” v. “full price” issue. Groupon should never do business with FTD again. I know I will not.

I ordered the special on 59.99 and they delivered the wrong flowers which were 20bucks cheaper.. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM!

It has been nearly TWO FULL DAYS and I have yet to receive the flowers ordered for Valentine’s Day. I have contacted customer support with FTD and they have been worthless.

Meanwhile, a very special occasion was trashed by this worthless promotion. Getting my money back doesn’t even begin to compensate me for the embarrassment of having NOTHING show up in time.

What am I going to do with $90 worth of flowers the day AFTER Valentine’s Day? Thanks, Groupon and FTD – a wonderful combination of FAIL. The discount is meaningless if the company can’t deliver on time…and timing is everything when delivering flowers.

david o.

Used the group on and It was the worst ever, for the additional 50 I payed, some pathetic looking flowers arrived at my girlfriends work place. FTD NEVER AGAIN…bad groupon…BAD!!!
