Tacoma, Washington, was dubbed the City of Destiny after it was selected as a western terminus for a major transcontinental railroad in 1895. Thanks to an ongoing cultural renaissance, the city is finally living up to that name. A handful of gems have sprouted up over the past 20 years, such as the Museum of Glass and the Chihuly Bridge of Glass—a dazzling, 500-foot elevated walkway designed by Dale Chihuly that links the museum to more of his work at the downtown Tacoma Art Museum. The hotel's onsite restaurant, Seasons Grill, serves classic all-American fare.
