Modern, Minimalist Suite in Classy High-Rise Above the Vegas Strip
Waterfalls, stone gardens, and a fire pit surround Palms Place's 50,000-square-foot pool. This area has its own little remote slice of paradise—it's situated on the sixth story of the building. After you grab a drink poolside, you can duck into a private cabana or look out to a panoramic view of the incandescent Las Vegas Strip below.
Palms Place as a whole has a relaxed, exclusive feel, and it takes every opportunity to help guests enjoy the view. On the 55th floor of the resort’s Palms Tower, you’ll find the Ghostbar nightclub, where you can step onto the outdoor sky deck to take in a panoramic shot of the Strip. Patrons here sip cocktails on white wraparound sofas that glow under violet lights. The deck’s floor is covered with glass insets, allowing you to get a dramatic view of Sin City’s receding hairline.
Celebrated chef Kerry Simon heads the kitchen at Simon Restaurant & Lounge, one of 11 total restaurants at the hotel. Simon and the team prepare elegant dishes from seasonal and organic ingredients at this eatery, which has been known to draw in some celebrities here and there. You can peer through floor-to-ceiling windows to get a view of the Strip and Spring Mountains, too.
Studio suites span 600 square feet, with twin 42-inch plasma TVs, a king-size bed fitted with Italian bedding by Matteo, wall-to-wall windows, and a contemporary kitchen.
Las Vegas: Glitzy Adult Playground near Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area
The Las Vegas Strip is known most of all for being a spectacle of excess, with its sky-scraping hotels and endless neon. Despite its surface reputation as a haven for vice, the area has some eclectic attractions beyond the glitz.
Located 17 miles west of the city is Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, where you can find more than 30 miles of hiking trails. And on a 13-mile drive through the Mojave Desert, you can scope out the area's famed crimson geological creations.
