AAA Four Diamond B & B in the Alaskan Rainforest

Located on a glacial Alaskan kettle pond that’s surrounded by the Tongass National Forest, Pearson's Pond Luxury Inn and Adventure Spa feels blissfully enveloped by nature. With snow-capped Mount McGinnis in the background and outdoor hot tubs lit at night, it’s no wonder that Frommer’s wrote that the grounds “create the illusion of being in a fairyland somewhere in the Alaska wilderness.” The only AAA Four Diamond resort in Alaska, Pearson’s Pond encourages its visitors to explore the surrounding rainforest. Guests can borrow kayaks and paddle out on Mendenhall Lake or ride a loaner mountain bike on the more than 300 miles of nature paths crisscrossing the Juneau area.

Each luxury deluxe and premium suite features plush furniture, berber carpet, and an eco-friendly fireplace keep out Alaska's chilly temperatures. A private deck looks out onto forest and leads to landscaped gardens, complete with an on-property waterfall. Each morning, a complimentary continental breakfast offers a hot entrée, such as shrimp quiche. Every night, guests sit around the campfire out back, swapping stories while making s'mores with the inn's provided chocolate and marshmallows.

Juneau, Alaska: State Capital among Alaskan Rainforests, Fjords, and Glaciers

Located along the Gastineau Channel in the Alaska Panhandle, the Alaska capital of Juneau is less an hour from the border of British Columbia, Though downtown Juneau’s streets and dozens of art galleries give a taste of urban life, the presence of green Mount Juneau rising behind the city reminds visitors of its main draw.

Millions of acres of protected temperate rainforest are nearby. Just a few miles from the hotel, the famous Mendenhall Glacier draws about 500,000 visitors each year to its 12-mile stretch of bluish glacial ice.
