Golf Courses and Water Park on Gated Property Close to Disney
One of the most truly magical experiences at the Magic Kingdom in Disney World is the nightly fireworks display. Tinker Bell flies to the top of Cinderella's castle, the music soars, the sky turns a dozen different colors, and you're instantly transported back to childhood. But you don’t have to be in the park to see the pyrotechnics. The whole thing is visible from the towers of Reunion Resort, located just 6 miles away.
Reunion guests have easy access to Orlando’s theme parks and a slew of activities onsite as well. The resort has its own water park—complete with a 1,000-foot-long lazy river—and three 18-hole golf courses, each designed by a legend of the game: Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, and Arnold Palmer. Watson’s Independence course reflects his love of British-style play with more than a dozen types of native grasses and rolling hills lined with azaleas and camellias. Nicklaus’s Tradition course, meanwhile, cuts through a nature preserve and former citrus grove where wild turkeys and armadillos have been spotted among the pines.
Two of the courses’ clubhouses are located steps from the 11-story Reunion Grande tower, where Estate Villa suites can be found. Each comes with a private balcony and fully equipped kitchen for in-room dining. The resort’s restaurants and snack bars, on the other hand, provide numerous options for out-of-room dining. The Eleven lounge on the top floor specializes in American cuisine, but its major draws are handcrafted cocktails and a rooftop pool with views of Orlando.
Reunion, Florida: Sun-Drenched Community near Orlando’s Amusement Parks
Located just southwest of Orlando, Reunion lies less than 30 minutes from central Florida's most popular attractions, including Disney World, SeaWorld, and Universal Studios. At the latter’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter, you can peruse Zonko's Joke Shop, sip butterbeer at Three Broomsticks, and speed through the sky on the Flight of the Hippogriff ride. Orlando may be known for its amusement parks, but the restaurant scene is starting to garner attention. Celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse and James Beard Award–winner Norman Van Aken both have restaurants here. Many local eateries offer fresh seafood from the Atlantic and incorporate the flavors of Caribbean nations such as Cuba and Jamaica.
