AAA Four Diamond Mountain Lodge & Spa Outside Grand Teton

Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa rooftop area has a hot tub big enough to hold 24 people. From this vantage point, you can see the towering Teton Mountain Range, located about a mile away. This about sums up the focus of this AAA Four Diamond resort: soaking in a hot tub as you soak in the scenery. The 24-person hot tub is one of five hot tubs on the property—three indoor and two outdoor—and it joins indoor and outdoor pools as well.

The healing powers of water are the focus of many treatments at Solitude Spa, a 12,000-square-foot, three-story facility that Conde Nast named a Top 100 U.S. Resort Spa in 2011. There are 10 treatment rooms total, including 2 couples treatment rooms, and you can enlist hydrotherapy services or relax in a Vichy shower.

Smoked-pheasant ravioli, porcini-dusted steelhead, and braised buffalo short ribs are featured on the prix fixe menu at Cascade Restaurant. The inventive dishes draw from regional organic produce. Firelight illuminates the interior of the rustic restaurant, while an outdoor patio overlooks the Jackson Hole Valley during warm-weather months.

You can re-heat leftovers from Cascade in fully equipped kitchens, which are standard in all Alpine studios and one-bedroom suites. Like the rest of the resort, the rooms are decorated in western-inspired motifs; here, that takes the form of leather recliners, handcrafted coffee tables, and even bears on beds. Bathrooms and kitchens feature gleaming granite countertops. In the Alpine studio, you can read a book before drifting off to sleep by the stone fireplace.

Jackson, Wyoming: Fishing and Hiking in the Old West

Teton Mountain Lodge is located about 12 miles northwest of Jackson. Jackson may be the only place on earth where you might see a rodeo cowboy, rock climber, and Hollywood starlet on the same block. The former frontier outpost draws visitors of all stripes for its special blend of Old West flavor and jaw-dropping natural beauty. Old-fashioned saloons and high-end galleries line the town square, but a few miles north in Grand Teton National Park, you’ll find nothing but wilderness.

Though summer and winter are Jackson’s high seasons, you’ll encounter lighter crowds in spring and spectacular foliage in the fall. As the winter snows begin to melt, the rivers swell and fill with rapids. There are about a dozen rafting outfitters in Jackson that run whitewater trips on the Snake River and scenic floats on a calmer stretch upstream, where you might see eagles, moose, and pelicans. When the water clarity improves in late summer, fly-fishing on the Snake is hard to beat.

Grand Teton National Park is open year-round, weather permitting, although many facilities and roads close for the winter season. A well-maintained network of hiking trails covers a wide range of terrain, from short loops through lupine meadows to mile-high treks into the Tetons. Thanks to an abundance of paved roads, you can cover much of the park’s 300,000 acres by car, and might feel less exposed while passing through herds of bison.

Though Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa sometimes features a discounted price online, this Groupon still offers the best deal available.

The service and staff were excellent. I come from a background of over 20 years in management in the hotel industry and the so I look first and foremost for service. The staff at the Teton Mountain Lodge was excellent. The rooms and the setting were also wonderful. I loved our weekend there and will stay at this hotel again.

Room was very nice and well-furnished, although being an efficiency, the bed was a "Murphy bed" that pulled down from the wall, which was not a problem for us. There is a ski lift adjacent that operates in non-ski season to go to the mountain top for the view.
