Fish, Kayak, and Hike on this Alaskan Cruise
A heavy mist often veils the mostly untouched landscape of Misty Fiords National Monument, known as the “Yosemite of the North.” There, inlets of water cut through rocky cliffs looming at thousands of feet in height. You’ll get to hike the unspoiled wilderness and take a kayak excursion on stops during this 5-night Alaskan cruise. You’ll board the Modoc II, which sets out from the port city of Ketchikan.
- Misty Fjords National Monument: Black bears and sea lions roam this park’s more than 2 million acres of rocky waterways and spruce and hemlock forests. You’ll have plenty of time to snap pics of the glacial cliffs and see ancient Native American etchings on the rock walls. Destination is only valid on select travel dates.
- Go fish: Passengers can cast out right from the deck to catch halibut (an additional $200 per day) and several salmon species. The staff will filet, vacuum seal, and freeze the fish before packaging it in boxes that are safe to take on your flight home.
- Kayak the waters: When the ship lays anchor, passengers can take a scenic kayak trip.
- Aboard the ship: Head to the galley for a hearty breakfast or fresh seafood. You can also take in views of the fjords from the sun deck. The bunk berths feature access to a stereo and a video library stocked with Poseidon’s home movies.
