Desert Hideaway with Natural Mineral Water Pools and Organic Spa
More than a century ago, settler Cabot Yerxa was digging a well when he unearthed natural hot springs bubbling beneath the Californian desert. Today, that same mineral-rich water is used to fill up the rejuvenating jacuzzis at Aqua Soleil Hotel & Mineral Water Spa. In fact, H2O is the focal point of most of the experience here: the area surrounding the hotel is lined with pools, and the property's palm-shaded courtyard features spa tubs and a pool filled with natural mineral water.
In The Spa at Soleil, located onsite, aestheticians perform detoxifying body treatments with the help of the mineral water; they also can perform facials, which help erase the effects of aging with oils, chocolate, and other natural elements. During the jade massage-bed treatment, you'll head to a private room to recline on a mattress filled with infrared jade balls, which radiate a soothing heat to your spine and legs.
Potted flowers and landscape artwork give an earthy feel to the guest rooms. The queen rooms also face a tropical courtyard garden, where you can lounge on deck chairs under the shade of palm trees.
Desert Hot Springs, California: Peaceful Small Town in the San Bernardino Foothills
Though it’s situated a bit off the beaten path in the San Bernardino Mountain foothills, Desert Hot Springs draws in many visitors that just want to experience its natural mineral waters. These waters flow from below the earth's surface into local spas and and are known for their relaxing and therapeutic benefits. There's a calming desert landscape here, too, which lends to an overall feeling of peaceful seclusion.
In 1913, town founder Cabot Yerxa used material found throughout the desert to handcraft a Hopi-influenced pueblo home that towers four stories high. It’s now immortalized as Cabot's Pueblo Museum and is open for tours. Meanwhile, there’s a retro '50s- and '60s-influenced vibe to the architecture of Palm Springs, which is located about 10 miles south of the hotel. The ritzy vacation spot features world-class golf courses and shopping centers.
