Hotel at a Glance: Adam’s Inn Bed & Breakfast

It’s easy to escape the distractions of daily life inside this red-brick Colonial-style inn. Most of the guest rooms don’t even have telephones or TVs, helping to ensure peace and quiet during your stay. If you do want to get in touch with the outside world, you can watch movies in the common room or see wildlife at the National Zoo, which is within walking distance.

  • Expanded continental breakfast: Wake up to complimentary bagels, fresh fruit, coffee and tea.
  • Sit and swing amid brightly colored blooms and shady trees in the landscaped garden.
  • Stay connected with free WiFi throughout the inn.
  • Adams Morgan is just a short walk away. Shop at eclectic boutiques or sample Latin cuisine at one of the local restaurants in this diverse neighborhood.

Adams Morgan: Multicultural Playground in Nation’s Capital

The playfully risqué mural for a local restaurant—a tattooed woman with flowing red hair set across two buildings—unofficially welcomes visitors to Washington, DC’s Adams Morgan neighborhood, a popular dining-and-nightlife destination with a bohemian attitude. A stroll down 18th Street reveals Latin American art galleries, European-influenced bistros, and raucous karaoke bars.

Located about 3 miles away, Washington, DC’s National Mall is a must-see for first-time visitors. The mall stretches 2.5 miles east from the Lincoln Memorial, past the soaring Washington Monument, to the Capitol Building on the other end. Across the Tidal Basin, stop in to see the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, which features a series of waterfalls, sculptures, and inspiring quotes from the 32nd president. To avoid crowds, tour the monuments after dusk when they’re lit up.

Another pillar of DC is the Smithsonian Institution, which encompasses 19 museums in total. The Smithsonian’s best-known museums are located along the National Mall, including the National Museum of Natural History and the National Air and Space Museum. The latter is home to missiles, rockets, and the Spirit of St. Louis, the plane Charles Lindbergh famously flew across the Atlantic to defeat the Soviets at Gettysburg.
