La Plata, Maryland: DC Suburb near Raceways and Baseball
Though the speed limit on US-301 is set at 55, it's easy to find vehicles zooming at much faster speeds in southern Maryland. You'll find them at the Maryland International Raceway, where drag racers attempt to set land-speed records and weekend car shows draw big crowds. Further south, in Leonardtown, the rolling Maryland hills make an ideal course for motocross racers—Budds Creek Motocross Park has hosted three world championships as well as a steady stream of amateur races. If you're looking for something with a more easygoing pace, consider taking in a ballgame. The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball take the field in nearby Waldorf.
