Anaheim, California: Magical Play Land About a Half Hour from Huntington Beach

Less than an hour from Hollywood and Universal Studios, Anaheim is perfectly situated for making the most of a Southern California getaway. But most visitors never make it that far, as Disneyland Park has long dominated the city’s tourism scene. As Walt Disney’s original park, it has a handful of classic attractions that, though upgraded over the years, have been around since the park opened in 1955. You can ride the Mad Tea Party spinning teacups, hop on the King Arthur Carrousel, or sail in the Storybook Land Canal Boats (Walt Disney personally planted the small pine near Geppetto’s home).

Disneyland Park has plenty of modern rides too, including Cars Land, one of the newer additions to Disney California Adventure Park and a life-size re-creation of the town from Disney Pixar’s Cars. The highlight here is the slot-car attraction, which puts you in an automated vehicle that swerves around animatronic characters before engaging another car in a high-speed race.

If you’re in the mood for thrills, ascend the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror before dropping in a heart-pounding free fall, or climb aboard the roller coasters thundering around Paradise Pier with sweeping views of the park. Alternatively, trade fairy dust for white sand in Huntington Beach, where you’ll find 3.5 miles of free-to-the-public beaches filled with surfing, pickup volleyball games, and countless stalls hawking flip-flops and seashell-themed wares.

Good clean room for family vacation The rooms were clean and everything from the refrigerator to the air conditioner worked well. They advertise hot breakfast but because of pandemic they gave a bag of yogurt, muffin and fresh fruit. Great nightly rate and really close to Disneyland and lots of restraunts within walking distance.

Unsanitary and the rooms are not as described. When we entered our first room there was a pile of hair in the corner of the first section of the bathroom and stains on the floor. The second section had hairs scattered all over and more spots. The front desk refused to refund us stating that they do not give refunds after the room has been paid for. They instead “upgraded” us to a two room “Spa Suite” and asked housekeeping to double check to make sure there were no hairs in the bathroom. There was still hair including a pubic hair on the floor towel. The manager sent someone over who took a towel and wiped away the hair and removed the pubic hair leaving the towel! The rooms are not upgraded and recently remodeled like they state. They are not practicing additional protocols for cleaning following the CDC and WHO and I doubt the staff is trained in using the PC products or the bathrooms would have been clean! The A/C unit had severe damage to the front and looked like it was going to fall off the wall in both rooms. The furniture was scratched, the doors were dented, the bathroom door didn’t fit and wouldn’t lock and it appeared to have been painted so many times that I wouldn’t doubt one coat was lead based! The only difference between the Spa Suite and the two queen bedroom was the extra spa products. Their pictures are completely misleading!!!! We spent three days of hell there feeling like we were being held hostage because we couldn’t afford to take the hit of paying for the hotel and paying for another one at the end of our two week vacation! I booked the room through AAA where they had a good standing. I am contacting them to look into this property and their misrepresentation. On the last day I did finally meet the General Manager who said they do not have a “no refund” policy and credited us one nights room amount.
