Romantic Couples-Only Retreat in the Poconos with Most Meals and Entertainment

Cove Haven Resort is nestled amid the snowcapped peaks, lush forests, and sparkling lakes of the Pocono Mountains in northeastern Pennsylvania. In 1963, the resort unveiled a heart-shaped tub in one of its guest rooms, sparking a flood of publicity that resulted in the Poconos being named the “Honeymoon Capital of the World.” Cove Haven still maintains that romance—the couples-only resort overlooks Lake Wallenpaupack’s secluded shores, and many guest rooms still have the heart-shaped tubs that made the resort famous.

Cove Haven is one of three sister resorts in the area, along with Paradise Stream and Pocono Palace. Guests at any of the three get unlimited access to each facility through the resorts’ Key Around Club. With this, you can skate on Cove Haven’s year-round indoor ice-skating rink, hit the cross-country ski trails at Pocono Palace, and sail on a rowboat at Paradise Stream. Guests can also catch nightly bands, comedians, and other live entertainment at the Champagne Palace Nightclub.

In the morning, head to the Colosseum Restaurant for the full breakfast menu. The restaurant also serves a dinner menu that changes each day and hosts theme nights on the weekends, including all-you-can-eat steaks and Italian cuisine. Alternatively, you could have a romantic breakfast in bed delivered to your room free of charge. Each of the available rooms—Harbour Tower, Juliette, and Cove Harbour—features a heart-shaped whirlpool bath, and the Juliette and Cove Harbour rooms offer fireplaces.

The Poconos is a picturesque mountain region located in Pennsylvania’s northeast corner. It has been a popular vacation destination since its first hotel opened along the Delaware River in 1829. Today, the area draws nearly 24 million annual visitors thanks to its stunning natural beauty and year-round recreational opportunities, from skiing and ice-fishing in the winter to golfing and whitewater rafting when it’s warm.

There are many ways to explore the region’s lakes, wooded hills, and valleys. At Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, located about 50 minutes from the hotel, you can hike a 27-mile section of the Appalachian Trail. Dozens of lakes and mountain streams make the area especially popular with fishers, who comb the waters for bass and trout year-round. Lake Wallenpaupack, which is located in the hotel's backyard, is one of the best fishing spots in the state.

This area is also home to a handful of quaint little towns where guests and locals browse antique shops and art galleries. You'll also find boutique wine galleries and historical mansions tucked away on country roads, including the 19th-century Asa Packer Mansion in Jim Thorpe.
