AAA Four Diamond Boutique Hotel in Heart of Downtown

Executive Hotel Le Soleil’s stone archways, gilded moulding, and oil paintings evoke an aristocratic estate plucked from Rococo France and replanted in downtown Vancouver. At the entrance, a doorman dressed in a gold waistcoat ushers guests into the lobby, where they’ll find red velvet armchairs set in front of a crackling fireplace. The hotel’s easy elegance earned it a nod as one of the Top 25 Luxury Hotels in Canada in the 2012 TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards.

Upstairs, the regal theme continues throughout one-bedroom-suite accommodations. Rooms with damask-striped gold wallpaper are furnished with 19th-century european decor, including down duvets and pullout couches adorned with crimson and gold brocades. Each corner suite features an expanded sitting area bathed in sunlight from two floor-to-ceiling windows.

The onsite Copper Chimney Restaurant & Bar serves Indian-inspired small plates, such as a lamb kebab dressed with crushed lentils and mint chutney.

Downtown Vancouver: Bustling Metropolis with Beautiful Harbor Views

A west-coast cosmopolis, Vancouver's location on a peninsula between English Bay and Vancouver Harbour presents a rare blend of urban amenities and natural splendor. You can catch glimpses of the waterfront—and the North Shore Mountains beyond—all across the city, but it's worth it to visit historic Gastown to shop, dine, and stroll along the harbor. Another retail area worth checking out is Robson Street, a three-block stretch of northern downtown lined with boutique clothing stores and cafes.

At the tip of the peninsula lies Stanley Park, whose 900 acres (400 hectares) encompass forests, beaches, and gardens. The Seawall, a 13-mile (22-km) waterfront path, encircles the park and has designated lanes for walkers, joggers, cyclists, and inline skaters. There are numerous smaller parks spread throughout the city, too, making Vancouver feel like an urban oasis.
