Hotel at a Glance: Lakeside Inn

Marco Island contains just one freshwater lake—Marco Lake—and the suites at Lakeside Inn occupy an enviable spot on its shores. Guests can watch a scenic sunset over the lake while lounging on the inn’s hammocks or beach chairs. Conveniently, the property is also within easy reach of Marco Island’s outdoor shopping centers and waterfront restaurants.

  • Beach-themed suites are trimmed in bright colors and white wicker furniture; some have views of the pool or lake. Each suite has a full kitchen.
  • Shop ‘til you drop at Marco Town Center Mall (less than a mile from the hotel) or The Esplanade Shoppes on Smokehouse Bay.
  • Cool off in an outdoor pool surrounded by palm trees and thatched-roof tiki huts.
  • Postcard-worthy sunsets command attention on the shores of Marco Lake, home to wild ducks and turtles.
  • Take a day trip to Everglades National Park to see endangered manatees or tour the swamp aboard an airboat.<p>

Marco Island, Florida: White-Sand Beaches near the Everglades

Marco Island—the largest of southwest Florida’s Ten Thousand Islands—lies near the western border of the Everglades, one of the largest wetlands in the world. About 30 miles east of the hotel, this subtropical ecosystem supports a diverse population of endangered species, including the American crocodile, leatherback turtle, and Florida panther. Airboat tours cut through acres of wispy sawgrass to reveal up-close views of swamp life.

Marco Island features a beautiful crescent shoreline that stretches along the Gulf of Mexico. Located 3 miles from the hotel, Tigertail Beach offers a quiet stretch of white sands, picturesque dunes, and tidal lagoons. There are countless inlets, rivers, and smaller clusters of islands surrounding Marco Island, making it a great spot to boat and fish. A small fleet of local charter boats plies the waters for snapper, snook, and grouper.
