Times Square, Manhattan: Flashy Neon Lights and World-Class Culture

Times Square is at the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The famous address—affectionately known as “the Crossroads of the World”—is home to hypnotizing billboards, giant wraparound news tickers, and the neon lights of Broadway. Beyond the glitz and gimmicks, there are a number of cultural offerings in the area, ranging from museums to Michelin-rated restaurants. Buildings of historical and architectural interest include the Paramount Building and One Times Square, site of the annual New Year's Eve ball drop.

Nearby, the Museum of Modern Art houses a trove of masterpieces including Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night, Claude Monet's Water Lilies paintings, and Andy Warhol's Campbell's Soup Cans. Save time for a stroll through the museum's outdoor sculpture garden, where installations are clustered around sparkling reflecting pools. About a mile north of Times Square, the David H. Koch Theater is home to one of the world’s foremost dance companies—the New York City Ballet, which stages contemporary works as well as classics like Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.

To me it's about customer service and the customer service was beyond my exceptions. Allison at the front desk is an angel in human form. She was so accommodating to me, I'm a disabled veteran. I was traveling to attend an event at the UN. The location is so close to the UN. You and walk there. You can take the train or Uber. Amtrak and the regular train is so close. Radio City is down the street.

Maybe wait a few months till refurb is finished I have just returned from this hotel with my son, yes I fully understand it is being updated which will eventually be good and much needed, however our room on the 12th floor was quite frankly disgusting. Paint peeling on bathroom ceiling, bath plug disgusting, something nasty on the carpet could've cried when I walked in after about 14 hrs travelling. I complained and showed the pictures and was given another room which wasn't much better but decided not to take it as the air-conditioning in that room was noisy. The staff were lovely and tbf the only good thing was the beds were clean which is the only reason we decided to stay. Pictures don't lie.

Overall Decent, but not excellent When we arrived Raquel was very pleasant to work with. She did 'upgrade' us due to renovations on the original floor we were supposed to be on. But going from a King to a Queen was pretty rough. We were put on the 22nd floor, and it was very nice, the view was interesting as we've never been to NYC. I realize we are in NYC, so rooms will be small. Our room was very spartan. With literally just the bed and a single chair. I'm not sure if this room really was meant for couples. No refrigerator, which would have been helpful as there were a couple times we would have liked to bring back food to our room, but we couldn't, so that was $ wasted. Also, the walls are crazy thin. I could hear everything going on in the room next to me and in the hallway. Obviously other guests, especially with children, can be loud. I also knew not to expect a lot of quiet as we are in Times Square, but be prepared, the windows definitely aren't sound proof. Also, no control over temperature in the room. I prefer a cooler space to sleep, and it was definitely always between 73 and 75 degrees. I realize heat rises, but the way it felt in our room wasn't great. Maintenance was spot on. They showed up immediately when we complained about not having hot water. However, we were told to just let it run a while. I realize we are on the 22nd floor, but that wasn't great. More of an overall design issue I guess. We were within walking distance of several train stations and Times Square, which was great and ideal. Also we were given some help when we got turned around trying to figure out which station to get into.

WORST HOTEL IN TIME NEW YORK This is 1 of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. The photos online really sell it with it's recently renovated rooms. Which might I add we never got to see. We were greeted fantastically by the host outside and friendly reception staff were very welcoming. We had to pay an upfront charge of $135 US dollars. Once we headed to the lifts. Most were out of service. With wires hanging down from walls and tiles on the floor missing. We stayed on the 14th floor which once were exited the lift to our disgust was horrendous peeling off wallpaper and dirty carpets. Our room was 1448 and as soon as we go into the room I could of died. The room was not as advertised. We were given a really old room. The wallpaper was coming off everywhere. The windows didn't open. The air conditioning was warm and I even got an electric shock from the plug to charge my phone. Further more the bed linen was soiled with filth. The carpets were very dirty. The pressure in the taps didn't work for the sink. The bed was a very small double. Not a queen as was arranged in the booking. The ice machine on our floor didn't work at all during our stay. Not only that but we could constantly smell canabis coming from other rooms as well as workmen starting drilling at 6AM and I am not exaggerating. 6AM was the start time. After a long day of walking around on our trip. Each morning we didn't even need an alarm clock. The drilling on other rooms to the side of us and above was enough. The TV we couldn't get full screen. It was a micro screen on 1 corner of the display. The lock for the room we consistently had issues with and took numerous attempts to open the door. To finalise this booking out room wasn't cleaned or made up once. We had no fresh towels or the beds made even though I left the sign to say IM ON AN ADVENTURE. MAKE UP MY ROOM. I can't fault the staff but I feel this hotel for the price we paid then the upcharge when we arrived and the list of issues above. Really ruined our stay in New York. We will not recommend this hotel and will not be coming back.
