I was just disappointed that they would not accept the Groupon coupon as payment in full. I went to be with friends and it was during the holidays- but there was no limitation on the Groupon website or black out dates. I went anyway and had to make up the difference. They should make such limits express so as not to mislead people.

Heber Valley, Utah: Lush Alpine Scenery Close to World-Class Skiing

Since Salt Lake City hosted the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, the neighboring Heber Valley—another top-notch outdoor-recreation spot—is sometimes overlooked. But this alpine area, located less than 20 miles from Park City, has bragging rights of its own. Here, you’ll find a wealth of hillside hiking trails, rolling golf courses, and mountain streams teeming with rainbow trout. In the winter, Heber Valley’s towns are noted for their laid-back atmosphere and proximity to four world-class ski resorts. Among them is Deer Valley Resort, named one of North America’s Best Ski Resorts by Outside magazine for its upscale amenities, including heated sidewalks. More than 100 runs spread out across several peaks and cater to a variety of skill levels; hardcore skiers will find plenty of steep trails near the peaks.

One of the main towns of Heber Valley is Midway, whose Soldier Hollow Resort hosted the 2002 Winter Olympic cross-country skiing events. The city’s other claim to fame is the Homestead caldera, a natural hot spring and one of the continental United States’ only warm-water scuba-diving spots. Surrounded by a 10,000-year-old limestone dome, the swimming hole—known locally as “The Crater”—remains a balmy 90 to 96 degrees year-round.

Heber City, the valley’s other major community, has been called “Switzerland of America” thanks to its pastoral farms surrounded by towering mountains. Don’t miss the Heber Valley Railroad, which takes passengers along a historic three-hour route into alpine Provo Canyon via 100-year-old restored steam and diesel trains.

The employees (besides the vallets) were unfriendly. The employee checking us in acted annoyed that we were using a groupon and they just ignored a service request we made with the front desk. I think costumer service can make or break a stay.

For a 4 Diamond Resort, I expected the rooms to be a lot nicer. The Spa aspect was amazing, but everything else was just okay.

The walls were so thin I was awoken at 6 am on my Saturday morning retreat by the neighbors. To make matters worse, room service knocked on our door at 7:00 am with breakfast we didn't order. We didn't stay the 2nd night.

Getting a reservation was terrible. I was put on hold for long periods of time and then hung up on and had to call back. They claimed there was only one "Groupon Room" available for the time period we were visiting. Although I had a Groupon and gave the reservation person the number as requested and turned in the printed Groupons at check-in...as requested, I was still charged for my room on my credit card. When I called to have them credit the charge, I was put on hold, hung up on during transfers or while on hold, left messages for a supervisor with no response. Finally on the third attempt over a number of day, I reached Connie and she took care of the issue with no problem. Exhausting.
