We’ve outlined some trip highlights below. Click here to see the full itinerary, and here for a list of frequently asked questions.

Days 1–3 The tour kicks off in Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu. After an overnight stay, you’ll board a twin-engine plane for the flight to Lukla. Along the way, take in breathtaking views of the towering Himalayas. From Lukla, you’ll trek to Phakding to spend the night.

The next day begins with an exhilarating hike to Namche, a prosperous village in the Khumbu Valley. Here, you can visit an authentic teahouse or stock up on handcrafted items and gear for the rest of the hike.

Days 4–5 After taking a day off to recharge, the group heads for Khumbila Mountain. At the base of this sacred peak, there’s a cave housing what is rumored to be the skull of a yeti. Further along at Tyangboche Monastery, you can get a panoramic look at Mount Everest and its equally imposing neighbors.

Days 6–9 En route to the village of Dingboche, the landscape is dominated by deep green fields where wild yak sometimes graze. A long hike through the Imja Tse Valley eventually opens onto unparalleled views of Lhotse, the world’s fourth-tallest mountain.

As the hike continues, the verdant hillside gives way to rugged trails alongside the enormous Khumbu glacier. Eventually you’ll reach the village of Gorek Shep, where you can refuel and acclimate yourself to the altitude before continuing up to the summit of Kala Pattar.

Days 10–15 After another day of journeying, the tour finally arrives at Everest Base Camp at the foot of the mountain. After taking a while to soak it all in, you’ll begin the descent, traveling back the same way you came. The trek wraps up in Lukla before a brief flight back to Kathmandu.
