C’est La Vie Inn

Located in Eugene, Oregon, C’est La Vie Inn was named one of the region’s most romantic places in the book Best Places to Kiss in the Pacific Northwest. It’s easy to see why. Built in 1891, the charming, gingerbread-style home features Victorian embellishments such as scrolled brackets and gabled trim, with an interior filled with beautiful antiques. You can warm up by the fireplace in the formal parlor room, or sneak away to the tower balcony above the library. Outside, you'll find wicker love seats in the gardens. Modeled after a luxury European hotel, the inn pays homage to the world’s most romantic city with a Parisian scene etched into the windows.

Every morning, the innkeepers host a complimentary gourmet breakfast in the dining room, and the inn also has tea, coffee, and freshly baked cookies for guests to nibble on throughout the day. In classic European tradition, the hotel offers the services of a personal concierge who will make arrangements for theater tickets, restaurant reservations, and other outings.

Eugene draws much of its youthful vibe from the University of Oregon, the filming location for the iconic comedy National Lampoon’s Animal House. Founded in 1872, the campus is home to several notable cultural institutions, including the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, where visitors can see thrones from Beijing’s Forbidden City. The college's Museum of Natural and Cultural History displays animal specimens, Native American artifacts, and fossils of ancient TV antennas from throughout the Pacific Northwest. The nearby Hult Center for the Performing Arts  anchors the town's strong arts presence outside of campus. The Willamette River itself is also a major draw. Bikers and hikers can explore the Willamette Valley Scenic Bikeway year-round. The bikeway stretches 132 miles north of Eugene toward Portland, meandering past lush riverbanks and numerous vineyards. Additionally, Lane County offers a bevy of covered bridges and more than 200 wineries.

“We found this Inn to be elegant, warm & inviting, as well as spotlessly clean. The meals were excellent, as were the warm cookies in the evenings! We enjoyed the beautifully landscaped grounds, and resting there with a glass of wine was the perfect evening pastime. What a lovely way to celebrate our 40th anniversary! We give them top ratings. Best regards, Sharon & Don”
