Wellness Retreat for Weight Loss through Healthy Lifestyles and Exercise

Founded in 2006, the California Health & Longevity Institute helps individuals obtain a healthier lifestyle under the guidance of industry experts. During a two-day retreat at the Institute, you’ll jump-start your weight loss and learn how to implement a healthy way of life as part of a group weight-loss experience. The Institute has plenty of practice leading people through a weight-loss journey, as its doctors and dieticians have also appeared on Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition to help TV participants achieve their goals. During your time with the California Health & Longevity Institute, you’ll stay in a deluxe room at Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village, an AAA Five Diamond–rated hotel located on the premises.

Upon arrival, you’ll undergo a body-composition analysis inside the Bod Pod, a podlike capsule that calculates your lean-muscle mass and fat percentage. Over the course of the next two days, you’ll attend workshops on nutrition, health, and fitness strategies led by health and wellness experts, each designed to equip you with the knowhow to succeed on your own. Exercise specialists lead two boot-camp sessions, as well as small group fitness classes.

Throughout your stay, you’ll be munching on healthy meals selected by dietitians and prepared by chefs at the nearby Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village. During one lunch or dinner, you’ll visit the Wellness Kitchen for a demonstration on how to prepare a healthy meal. When the weekend is over, you’ll receive a DVD with nutritionally focused tips, as well as an assessment tool for tracking calories.

While you’re at Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village, make sure to explore its cascading waterfalls, lush gardens, art gallery, and Chinese pagoda. During downtime, check out the 16,000-square-foot fitness center, equipped with a Mediterranean-inspired lap pool and sauna. Groupon customers receive a 20% discount on treatments at The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village and the Spa Boutique, and on complementary and alternative medicine treatments at California Health & Longevity Institute.

Westlake Village, California: Picturesque Small Town near Santa Monica Mountains

The rugged Santa Monica Mountains separate the Pacific Coast from the affluent small town of Westlake Village, located about 20 miles inland. From Westlake Village, it’s just a quick jaunt into the scenic hills. A 6-mile round-trip hike on the Mishe Mokwa Trail leads up to a summit called Sandstone Peak. Along the way, you’ll pass Echo Cliffs—a popular rock-climbing spot—and plenty of boulders, sandstone formations, and sheer cliff walls. Malibu’s legendary beaches, including Topanga State Beach and Malibu Surfrider Beach, home of the Malibu Pier, are less than 20 miles away.
