Choose Between Two Options

Standard rooms hold either one queen-size bed or two double beds. Check-in is at 3 p.m. and checkout is at 11 a.m. Pets may be allowed with an additional deposit—call for details.

Colonial Inn

Colonial Inn first opened in 1947, when tourists began coming to explore the beaches of North Carolina’s Outer Banks. Now one of the oldest properties directly on the beach in Nags Head, Colonial Inn is a landmark, located right beside the Nags Head Fishing Pier and within a short stroll of local restaurants. Though the inn is too small to support a full-time concierge, front-desk staff revel in the opportunity to share their local knowledge and point guests in the right direction—perhaps to an ideal fishing spot. A total of six nearby piers line the shore, positioning travelers to catch bass and, in the summer, perch and inner tubes.

Each king or queen room is spacious, with windows overlooking either the Atlantic Ocean and beach or the courtyard’s outdoor pool. There’s a microwave and mini fridge inside for stowing snacks, and the inn offers a complimentary continental breakfast each morning.
