Day 2: Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica

Next, the group heads to Arenal Volcano National Park, where whitewater rafting on the Balsa River class 2 and 3 river from Wave Expeditions or a tour via hanging bridges and cable car from Sky Adventures awaits. You'll spend the night in the park at Baldi Hot Springs Resort Hotel & Spa.

Day 3: Rincon de la Vieja, Costa Rica

Next up is Rincon de la Vieja National Park, where you'll have access to numerous activities, such as ziplining, a waterfall visit, horseback riding, a canopy tour, and soaking in a volcanic mud pool. Lunch is included. That evening, retire to your room at the Hotel Borinquen.

You’ll spend the night (and the remainder of the trip) at Hotel Villas Playa Samara, located just steps from a white sand beach.

    Days 6–7: Samara, Costa Rica

Hotel Villas Playa Samara's whitewashed cottages hug a horseshoe-shaped bay renowned for calm waters that are ideal for swimming and snorkeling. The Hotel Playa Samara was lacking. The setting was nice, but not having towel service for 3 days was a real problem especially given how humid it is. Also, we had to use all of our towels to dry up the bathroom floor because there are no shower curtains! In addition, the staff didn't seem to care about the guests needs and never responded to our problems even when they said they would. The inclusion of Nicaragua on the new tour was nice but I think that the amount of time spent in the bus needs to be clearer from the start. Our tour (Nov 19th) schedule was changed around and I think that we missed things that were included on the original itinerary as a result. This was disappointing.

The tour was great. The trip to Nicaragua is pretty long and some additional activities in Costa Rica could probably be substituted for this portion, so you don't spend so much time crossing the border, etc.

First few days were wonderful and fun, but last days slow, needed some scheduled activities included into the package price. Last hotel needed a shuttle, phone in room for emergency or for a wake up call---TV would be nice too. The Escalon Hotel was amazing---better if we could have stayed there an additional day. Staff was great, food was good and overall I truly enjoyed this trip.
