Dadeville is situated about 90 minutes from Birmingham, in a densely wooded patch of wilderness in eastern Alabama. The town sits on the shores of Lake Martin, a sprawling manmade lake lined with charming cabins and cottages. In the summer, the lake is a popular spot to go boating, kayaking, and fishing; its sparkling waters are stocked with bass, catfish, and bluegill.

A few miles north of town, Horseshoe Bend National Military Park marks the spot of a battle where US forces led by Andrew Jackson fought a tribe of Red Stick Creek warriors. You can tour the battlefield by following a 2.8-mile nature trail.
