So if you are buying this as a gift and you want to do two nights and you buy them separately will they have to check out of the room they stayed the first night and check into another room? Or can you use both groupons and combine them to stay in the same room for both nights? Should both groupons be in the same persons name?

They will not have to check out and re check in. Just ask for a 2 nights reservation and give the 2 coupons at check in. The coupons do not need to be at the same name, but they must be valid.
