Nevada-Style Casino-Resort in California High Desert

Vegas might come to mind first, but Diamond Mountain Casino & Hotel lies about 90 miles northwest of Reno in Susanville, California. The hotel is abuzz with the energy of a Vegas Strip casino, but without the stifling crowds and herds of Cher impersonators.

The casino came before the hotel and remains the biggest draw. It stays open 24 hours and features a full-service bar to keep gamblers well hydrated. In addition to live entertainment, the adjacent Diamond Willow Room hosts weekly karaoke, bar trivia, and dance nights.

Deluxe rooms and spa suites come decorated with lodge-style décor and feature views of the nearby mountains. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served in the Sports Bar and Grill, which offers a menu of hearty American dishes such as ham steak with eggs, chicken-fried steak, and meatloaf.
