Secluded Lakefront Resort Occupying 40 Wooded Acres

Georgia’s Peachtree City, recently named one of America's Best Places to Live by Money magazine, has the best of small-town charm and the big city: its secluded, wooded location is within reach of Atlanta’s bustling metropolis, just 25 miles away. But the town’s tall Georgia pines and sprawling golf courses make it feel even further away, and the pace is leisurely here. Peachtree City is said to have more households with golf carts than any other town in the world. You can spot many of them puttering down the 90-mile scenic trail that cuts across the city. Dolce Atlanta – Peachtree occupies 40 of the city’s acres, lying adjacent to a lake with miles of tree-shaded paths.

There’s plenty to do at the resort, which has lighted courts for volleyball, basketball, and tennis, as well as equipment for billiards and horseshoes, throughout its buildings. Scheduled events can include wine-and-food pairings and regular Sunday brunches. There’s also a glass-enclosed pool complex complete with a sun deck overlooking the property’s lake and landscaped grounds.

Offsite, take advantage of Dolce Atlanta – Peachtree’s bike rentals to hit the town’s famed scenic trail, or ride the resort’s complimentary shuttle to local shops.

Peachtree City, Georgia: Small Town with Pine-Studded Scenic Trail and Golf Courses Close to Atlanta

Peachtree City, located just south of Atlanta, is a planned community made up of five interconnected villages, each with its own downtown. The affluent community is said to have more than 10,000 golf carts—so many, in fact, that a 90-mile trail was paved for riders, and several shops have designated parking spots for the vehicles. Unsurprisingly, you’ll also find a number of golf courses here, including three championship 18-hole courses at Canongate’s Flat Creek Country Club, located minutes from Dolce Atlanta – Peachtree.

Visitors can easily access big-city attractions in nearby Atlanta. Anchored by historical Peachtree Street, the city's midtown area boasts a thriving arts-and-culture scene. Opened in 1929, the Fox Theatre features imposing Egyptian architecture and a custom-made organ with a network of 3,622 pipes. Tours take place on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The High Museum of Art spotlights more than 12,000 pieces of contemporary and folk art, ranging from Renaissance paintings to photographs from the civil-rights era. Kids might better enjoy the Georgia Aquarium, located downtown at Centennial Olympic Park. Considered the world's largest aquarium with more than 8 million gallons of fresh and marine water and more than 100,000 animals, the aquarium is home to beluga whales, lionfish, whale sharks, bottlenose dolphins, and more.

“This is a nice secluded hotel that had great breakfast in the morning. It was a very nice weekend getaway from the city and although there was a slight miscommunication made to us by the hotel's front desk associate about our free breakfast tickets which caused us to have to pay for a breakfast that should have been free, my boyfriend and I would definitely stay there again.”

  • “Anything we needed the staff was more than helpful in getting or finding for us, this was our favorite place to stay ever. We'll definitely go there again!”
