Questions and Answers

Is the single supplement paid directly to the cooking school?

Joy M. asked 2 months, 21 days, 23 hours, and 57 seconds ago - 1 answer

David L.

Hello Joy, the single supplement is paid to Epitourean at the time you make your actual reservation (which is when you lock in your dates of travel). More information can be provided if you call 800-390-3292 or email at customerservice@epitourean.com.

•Must book by 4/30/13 or promo value expires Does this mean that once purchased through Groupon, the booking must be made directly with the COooking School prior to the end of April?

Lori B. asked 2 months, 22 days, 4 hours, and 27 minutes ago - 1 answer

David L.

Hello Lori, the "Book by" date is the date by which you must make your reservation with Epitourean.com. You can travel between now and February, 2014...but you should make your reservation for the dates that you want to travel with Epitourean.com by April 30th. If you need to change your dates, you can do so without penalty...as long as there is availability for your new dates. You can reach us at 800-390-3292 or customerservice@epitourean.com.

From the reviews on trip advisor it seems that you have to take a taxi to get back and forth from town. What is the cost of a taxi return trip to Tlaxcala?

Joy M. asked 2 months, 22 days, 4 hours, and 33 minutes ago - 1 answer

David L.

Hello again Joy, the only time you would need a taxi is if you were wanting to go into the town of Tlaxcala or Puebla on your own. The activities associated with this tour that require transfers are included. But if you did want to take a taxi into town on your own, the cost is very reasonable.

Hi, I would be travelling solo but am willing to share a room with another traveler to avoid the single supplement. Is that possible? Also, what time is the pick up from the airport in Mexico city?

Joy M. asked 2 months, 22 days, 4 hours, and 50 minutes ago - 1 answer

David L.

Hello Joy, the pick up time is normally between 4 PM and 5 PM...however, we do adjust this depending on the arrivals and departures for the group. But you should probably plan on Sunday afternoon pick-up and Saturday afternoon return. Regarding roommates, we don't often get requests for people to have a rommate on this particular tour, but we can certainly put you on a list and let other singles know that you would be agreeable to that arrangement.

6 night culinary Mexican vacation special: Is this available for the week of May 19, single, price?

James W. asked 2 months, 22 days, 9 hours, and 8 minutes ago - 1 answer

David L.

Hello James, the week of May 12th and May 26th is still available, but not he week of May 19th. The price of either of those weeks would be $1,139 plus single supplement of $300...which still saves you 35% off of our regular single pricing.

Are there reviews of the bed and breakfast where we would be staying? What is the training of the teacher and are there reviews of classes she has taught?

MARGARET S. asked 2 months, 23 days, 3 hours, and 26 minutes ago - 1 answer

David L.

Hello Margaret, Yes you can find reviews of the cooking school and the B&B at the following link: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g499425-d617000-r146029130-Mexican_Home_Cooking_School_and_B_B-Tlaxcala_Central_Mexico_and_Gulf_Coast.html. Senora Estela Salas Silva was born and raised in this area of Mexico, and learned her skills in the kitchen (and secret family recipes) from her mother and grandmother in Puebla. She also ran their family Mexican restaurant in the San Francisco Bay area for many years before moving back to her home country.

Can you explain the $300 fee for traveling solo? in other words, under what circumstances would one have to pay that? Thank you.

M M. asked 2 months, 23 days, 5 hours, and 27 seconds ago - 1 answer

David L.

Hello M, the single supplement is the fee one pays to make up for the fact that there’s nobody else sharing the room with them. When a tour has limited rooms, you will often see a single supplement. The scenario then is: If you are traveling alone and wish to have your own room, then you pay a single supplement fee of $300 on top of the regular tour charge.

Is there a more detailed list of what we would be cooking? The write-up only mentions one dish. Would we be making mole, tortillas, etc, as implied by the pictures? Thank you

Marci R. asked 2 months, 23 days, 6 hours, and 1 minute ago - 1 answer

David L.

Hello Marci, you will actually be making about 28 dishes during your time in Tlaxcala. So many that we cannot mention them in the actual write-up. But you will definitely be making mole and tortillas…but many, many more.
