Old Hollywood Charm and Nightly Entertainment at Historical Resort

In the 1950s, Hollywood starlets such as Jayne Mansfield set out to Sonoma County to relax at the Flamingo Conference Resort and Spa, a luxurious resort modeled after the famous hotel of the same name in Las Vegas. Just like at its Sin City sibling, curved glass encloses the resort's hallways, and cedars line the polished flagstone walkways. Today, the Flamingo maintains much of its vintage luster, enough for it to earn recognition as an official historical landmark in Santa Rosa. And the hotel has found ways to distinguish itself from its original Vegas inspiration: in honor of Santa Rosa native Charles Schulz, statues of eight Peanuts characters decorated by local artists deck out the property.

In the lobby, a crystal chandelier hangs over pastel floor stools, and a Charlie Brown statue signed by the San Francisco Giants waves to new arrivals. As you make your way to a superior room, the color palette shifts to muted earth tones, with flaxen-hued wall coverings and wood trim. Clusters of rooms encircle the well-manicured gardens and outdoor swimming pool like spokes on a wheel.

Adjacent to the pool area, the Terrace Grille lays out plates of locally sourced cuisine on its outdoor patio. The Flamingo Lounge constantly rotates its lineup of music and dance entertainment, with offerings such as salsa Sundays. You can also redeem your resort credit at Montecito Heights Health Club and Spa, which sits adjacent to the resort and boasts five outdoor tennis courts, a lap pool that is heated all year long, and a signed copy of Lou Ferrigno’s dissertation. The European-style spa at Montecito encourages guests to find their equilibrium after breaking a sweat in the gym.

Santa Rosa, California: Cultural Hub Close to Many Vineyards and Wineries

Santa Rosa, which resides in the heart of northern California's Wine Country, acts as a hub for the area's most popular vineyards in Sonoma, Russian River, and Dry Creek Valley. As part of the package, you’re invited to sip regional wines within the French Normandy–style castle at Ledson Winery & Vineyard, about 15 minutes from the hotel. With Gothic turrets, slate roofs, lawns studded with 100-year-old oaks, and court jesters tap-dancing on grapes, the grounds themselves are almost as much of an attraction as the wine, but the soul of the place becomes apparent at its tasting bars. Ledson's family of winemakers serves up handcrafted varietals ranging from cabernet franc to mourvèdre (tasting passes to Ledson and more than 25 other wineries are included in this Getaway).
