i see it has to be purchased by april and used by the 30th, could one also buy it for a date and time before april 5, say end of feb friday to sunday or march friday to sunday?

Yes, you can use the Groupon before 4/5. 4/5 is just the last possible day to call for a reservation before the promotional value of the Groupon expires. All reservations are subject to availability.
