Questions and Answers

I would like to go to cost rico preferably in April but between 29th March and 10th April. Do you have dates for that and the other thing is my friend will be coming from Abu Dhabi. How could we get the best deal then. If there is no possibility for a trip in April we could do July 2nd but still have teh problem of one of us coming in from Abu dhabi

Jane O. asked 4 months, 23 days, 10 hours, and 7 minutes ago - 1 answer

Kristin W.

The first available departure is the May 21 departure. However, July 2 is still available. Your friend would need to arrange their own flights from Abu Dhabi to Miami and fly from there. We are not able to offer this program without airfare.

Hi again, When I purchase 2 vouchers for this deal when will I find out the time the flight will leave from Miami on the 23rd of April and also the time the flight will return to Miami 7 days later so that I may book a flight from Jacksonville, Fl to Miami and a return flight from Miami to Jacksonville. Thank you, Bob Daniels

Are we able to use credit cards in Costa Rica? If so what type cards? Also is it better to use colon or american money? Thank you, Bob Daniels

Robert L. asked 4 months, 25 days, 10 hours, and 47 minutes ago - 1 answer

Kristin W.

Most stores and hotels will accept major credit cards. However, for street shopping or small purchases you should use cash. U.S. currency is accepted as legal tender in Costa Rica, you can save yourself on exchange rates by using U.S. currency.

Would like to add the ORD departure option, would that be a nonstop flight to Miami, what happens if you do not make the connecting flight, in either direction?

Patti R. asked 4 months, 25 days, 17 hours, and 56 minutes ago - 1 answer

Kristin W.

We try to find the best available flight from ORD to San Jose for you. Based on current availability, it could be a direct flight; however, there also may be a connection. We always try to make sure that you have enough connecting time that you wouldn't miss your connecting flight. In the event that you were to miss a connecting flight, we provide you with an emergency number that you can reach us at 24 hours a day. We would do our best to get you reconfirmed on the next flight.

If there are three people travelling together, are we able to share one hotel room? Would we buy two groupons and then pay a supplement to add a third person -or- would we have to buy three groupons?

Wenellie C. asked 4 months, 26 days, 3 hours, and 14 minutes ago - 1 answer

Kristin W.

Yes, we can accommodate triple room occupancy on this tour. Each person in a triple room pays the double occupancy rate and must purchase a Groupon.

Jose archilla We are thinking on doing Option 5: $1,199 per person, valid for August 27 departure but flying out of JFK how much would it be all together for two does $2756 sound right. If so does that include taxes, since we each need to buy a groupon does that guaranty us flying together Thank you

Diana G. asked 4 months, 26 days, 8 hours, and 12 minutes ago - 1 answer

Kristin W.

Based on current, live airfare availability, the cost to fly from JFK is $170 per person. The total for two, with the Groupon, to fly from JFK would be $2738. That does includes fuel surcharges, taxes and fees. The only additional tax would be the $26 departure tax that must be paid in Costa Rica. When you call to reserve your space with us, let us know you are traveling together and we will ensure you are on the same flights.

Once we buy the voucher what is next who do we call for a reservation, we want to fly out of jfk, how much more, do i need to buy two vouchers or can i just add it to the purchase. My husband and i are traveling together obviously. How is the weather around august, one of the hotels does not offer air conditioning at monteverde is the climate cold. Diana Arch

Diana G. asked 4 months, 26 days, 8 hours, and 31 minutes ago - 1 answer

Kristin W.

Once you purchase your voucher, call us here, at Friendly Planet 1-800-555-5765 to reserve your space and redeem your Groupon. You will need to purchase 2 Groupons, 1 per person. The weather in August is an average of 82 with a high of 87 and a low of 75. Let me know which August departure you are interested in and I will get a quote for the current supplement to fly from JFK.

Are passports required and is American money used there? Thank you, Bob Daniels

Robert L. asked 4 months, 26 days, 10 hours, and 12 seconds ago - 1 answer

Kristin W.

Travelers to Costa Rica must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel, and at least 2 blank visa pages. Costa Rica's currency is the colon, but U.S. dollars are accepted as legal currency throughout the country.

HOW DO YOU PACK FOR A TRIP LIKE THIS ONE "costa rica" ???? AND WHERE DO YOU KEEP YOUR BELONGINGS DURING THE TOURS????

araselis c. asked 4 months, 26 days, 10 hours, and 34 minutes ago - 1 answer

Kristin W.

Since weather can be unpredictable anywhere in the world, it’s important to be prepared. We suggest packing a folding umbrella and clothing that can be worn in layers, so that you are prepared for all weather conditions. Temperatures tend to range in the 70s and 80s. All the hotels we use on this program are equipped with in-room safes, any valuable items or monies can be store here while out on excursions.

Kristin W. answered 4 months, 26 days, 10 hours, and 13 minutes ago

What is the average cost of lunch and dinner at one of these hotels? And, if my friend and I are travelling together and want to room together do we buy our groupons separately or does one of us buy a groupon for our self and one as a gift? If we do the second option (one as a gift) cam we use both on the same trip?

Julie V. asked 4 months, 27 days, 3 hours, and 31 minutes ago - 1 answer

Kristin W.

The average cost for lunch is $10-$15 per person. The average cost for dinner is $20-$25 per person. You will both need to purchase a Groupon. You do not need to buy one for yourself and one as a gift. You can purchase them separately should you choose to do so. Either way, as long as you purchase the same option you can use them for the same departure.
