Secluded Suites in Red Rock Country

Stationed on a lush green lawn, a peculiar stone sculpture ascends over a stretch of cropped hedges. The statue resembles two entwined figures, echoing the namesake of the Kokopelli Suites. The fertility deity known as Kokopelli—usually depicted as a humpbacked flute player and one of the most recognizable characters in southwestern culture—emblazons the red adobe exterior of the hotel in the form of small silhouette renderings. Below, modified archways beckon guests to its contemporary quarters.

Arranged on the first floor, Cathedral suites boast marble jacuzzis, adobe fireplaces, and king beds with down bedding and pillow-top mattresses ideal for host plush sleepovers and indoor snow-angel practices. For alfresco pampering, visitors can stroll to the outdoor swimming pool enclosed by a stucco columned gate. Contemporary, square fire pits ornament the Mission-style sun deck, warming the seating areas shaded under canopies of burnt orange blooms.

After rousing palates with coffee, juice, and bagels, travelers can make balloon animals out of bubble gum or flock to a local vineyard for a complimentary wine tasting of the region’s reds and whites. This exploration of the landscape’s robust fruits includes two souvenir glasses and unveils views of the dramatic terrain.

Sedona, Arizona: Natural Splendor Within Coconino National Forest

Sheltered within the 1.8 million acres of Coconino National Forest, Sedona is no stranger to natural beauty. Even the local Sedona Airport perches atop a towering mesa, overlooking the pyramids, pyres, and gorges of local red-rock formations that only become more vivid in the fading light of sunset. Surrounding the city, fantastical formations cast silhouettes against the sky, including the spires of Cathedral Rock, the symmetric carillon of Bell Rock, and the peaked percolator-shaped Coffee Pot Rock.

Named for local Native American tribes, Coconino still hides tiny, chiseled arrowheads among its crimson cliffs and russet stones. This ponderosa-pine-covered national park—amid the sprawling remains of ancient wetlands—harbors pockets of rustic beauty, such as lazy creeks and streams trimmed with wildflowers and sinuous, backcountry hiking paths flanked by lush riparian areas. Visitors can explore much of the area by horseback or enlist bicycles to traverse a network of red sandy trails.

room was dirty & linens were stained. Bed linens were also cheap & scratchy. There wasn't even a mattress pad on the bed. You coulc see the mattress through the very thin sheet. Fireplace was nice.

Safe was not operable due to the battery and did not get fixed during our stay. Mattresses appeared quite old and beat up. Neither were they comfortable-too hard. FirePlace was a nice option but heated the room too much. Double showerhead made loud squealing noise. Overall, it was a budget motel experience than a "suite" one.
