Days 1–3: Flight & Athens

After your flight touches down in Athens, you’ll unwind at the hotel for the evening before spending the next day exploring the city.

The following morning, you’ll head off on a city tour of Athens, starting with a stop at the Panathenaic Stadium. This imposing marble structure, which dates back earlier than the 6th century BC, hosted the first contemporary Olympic Games in 1896.

Next, the tour makes its way to the Acropolis, an ancient fortress that’s one of Athens’s most visited sites. The name Acropolis translates to “high city,” named so because it rests on a giant rock that rises more than 500 feet from the center of the city. The Acropolis’s most-famous attraction is the Parthenon, a temple for the goddess Athena, built with imposing Doric columns and sacred marble friezes.

Days 4–5: Olympia

The tour departs Athens and heads southwest toward Olympia via the Corinth Canal. On the way, you’ll stop at the Epidaurus Theatre, which was built more than 2,500 years ago and still hosts performances of classic Greek tragedies. The theatre is renowned for its acoustics—it’s said that if someone drops a matchstick on the original stage, you can hear it from the top row.

Continuing on, you’ll visit the Archeological Site of Olympia, best known for hosting the ancient Olympic Games every four years. Here you can inspect the ruins of several temples, as well as visit the old stadium where the games were played. After viewing 5th-century statues at the Archaeological Museum of Olympia, the tour moves north to Delphi.

Days 6–8: Delphi & Meteora

Many visitors are drawn to the Archaeological Site of Delphi for its gorgeous setting, located along the slopes of Mount Parnassus. At the Delphi Museum, you can see Greek pottery, the 32-ft tall Sphinx of Naxos, and the omphalos stone, which was once in the shrine of Delphi’s sacred oracle.

Before returning to Athens for one last night of leisure, you’ll head north to Meteora, an Eastern Orthodox monastery built atop massive sandstone monoliths. While visiting Meteora, you’ll stay in the nearby town of Kalambaka.

At the end of Day 7, you’ll return to Athens for your flight back to U.S. on Day 8.
