Visit Cities in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark

This 11-day tour from Gate 1 Travel introduces you to six Scandinavian cities: Oslo, Lillehammer, Sogndal, Bergen, Gothenburg, and Copenhagen. The trip includes sightseeing tours in each city as well as optional excursions that highlight the history of the region. Optional excursions may sell out, so it’d be wise to book early.

En Route to Oslo (Day 1)

  • Flight time: 8 hours

Oslo, Norway (Days 2–3 & 7)

  • Half-day city tour: Visit Oslo’s main square and a sculpture park designed by Gustav Vigeland that has more than 192 sculptures. The most famous: a 46-foot monolith, with 121 figures carved from a single block of granite
  • Optional tour: 4-hour guided tour of historic ships, including three 1,200-year-old Viking ships ($73 per person)

Lillehammer, Norway (Day 4)

  • Claim to fame: Lillehammer hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics. You’ll get a nice view of the Olympics ski-jump during a brief tour of the city.
  • Visit a circa-1150 stave church: in the nearby village of Lom. A stave church is a medieval church constructed entirely of wood.
  • Scenic drive through the Scandinavian Mountains: You’ll fly by glaciers, scenic mountain passes, and Galdhøpiggen, Norway’s highest mountain, on your way to Sogndal.

Sogndal, Norway (Day 5)

  • Cruise through a fjord: In the morning, you’ll take a cruise through Sognefjord, the largest and deepest fjord in Norway.
  • Train ride though the mountains: Flam Railway trains carry passengers 3,000 feet up amid stunning views of pastures, waterfalls, and snow-capped peaks.

Bergen, Norway (Day 6)

  • Scenic locale: Bergen sits along the waterfront in the middle of a region known as the Seven Mountains. Take a stroll along the harbor to see the city’s fish market and traditional Norwegian architecture.
  • Optional tour: 3-hour guided city tour ($72 per person)

Gothenburg, Sweden (Day 8)

  • Sweden’s second-largest city: Founded in the 17th century, Gothenburg is home to a large university, numerous parks, and the Gothenburg Opera.
  • Afternoon at leisure: Stroll along the waterfront, take a scenic cruise, or travel outside of the city to the Liseberg Amusement Park, which has 40 rides and attractions.

Copenhagen, Denmark (Days 9–10)

  • Iconic bridge: You’ll drive across the 5-mile-long Öresund Bridge en route to Copenhagen. The bridge stretches across the Kattegat Sea to link Sweden with Denmark.
  • Half-day city tour: Visit several museums and monuments as well as Amalienborg Palace, the winter residence of the Danish Royal Family.
  • Optional tour: 5-hour tour of Denmark’s castles and palaces ($74 per person).

En route to USA (Day 11)

  • Flight time (from Copenhagen): 8 hours

What happens if I buy the Groupon and my travel dates are not available? You can either choose another date or be refunded by Groupon. We suggest calling Gate 1 Travel to redeem your vouchers ASAP so that you do not run into this problem.

Does my child need a Groupon, and can they stay in my room? Yes, each person traveling (including children) needs to purchase a voucher. Your child may stay in your room; however, there are limits as to how many people per room. Children must be 8 or older on this tour.

Trip is planned for 11/12/23. It appears to be an amazing value. I have purchased 2 other travel Groupons one for Ireland and one for China, both trips were awesome. Highly recommend.
