Spacious Condos Minutes from Disney World

The white vacation cottages of Grand Beach Orlando occupy a secluded stretch of sand along the shores of Little Lake Bryan. The resort's tropical setting—complete with hammocks swinging under palm trees—may seem a universe away from the hubbub of Orlando, but Disney World, Sea World, and Universal Studios are all less than a 10-minute drive away.

Each spacious three-bedroom condo is equipped with an arsenal of appliances, including an in-unit washer and dryer, a jetted whirlpool tub, and, in the kitchen, a full-size refrigerator and oven. The sunny, homey rooms feature big windows and cushy furniture, and a screened-in patio overlooks the pool or Lake Bryan.

Outside, paddleboats lie in the sand along the lakefront, waiting for guests to climb in and pedal out onto the water. A sand volleyball court is positioned next to a children's outdoor playground and a shuffleboard court, allowing for innovative triathlon competitions. Two heated outdoor pools—one for kids and one for adults—shimmer in the warm Florida sunshine.

Orlando, Florida: World-Famous Theme Parks and Cultural Surprises

Located in the center of Florida, Orlando may forever be associated with Walt Disney World, which opened in 1971 and has become the world’s most visited entertainment resort. The entire complex covers roughly 30,000 acres, encompassing four theme parks, two water parks, five golf courses, and the Downtown Disney marketplace. In just one day, you can ride Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom, sample Moroccan cuisine at Epcot’s World Showcase, and enjoy the IllumiNations light show at night. The success of Disney World has brought an influx of other theme parks to sunny Orlando, including Universal Studios, SeaWorld, and Gatorland.

Those hoping to shake up the typical theme-park-dominated itinerary can head into downtown Orlando's vibrant arts district. The neighborhood boasts venues such as the CityArts Factory, a multifaceted patchwork of gallery spaces, and SAK Comedy Lab, which holds improv shows five nights a week.

About a 10-minute drive north, you’ll find Loch Haven Park, which is surrounded by eight cultural institutions, including the Orlando Museum of Art—home of a collection featuring pieces by Georgia O’Keeffe, Robert Rauschenberg, Ansel Adams, and Andy Warhol. The Orlando Shakespeare Theater, the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Orlando Science Center are also headquartered in the park. Visit the Science Center to race on a 70-foot pinewood-derby track or take a rover across a simulation of the surface of Mars.
