The Domain is home to high-end retailers including Tiffany, Neiman Marcus, and Louis Vuitton as well as familiar brand names such as Express and American Eagle Outfitters. When you're not browsing the shops, you can choose from a variety of restaurants, catch a flick at the movie theater, or stroll through the Arboretum’s outdoor area, which features a fountain and picnicking spots. Austin calls itself the “Live Music Capital of the World,” and it backs up that claim with nearly 200 venues playing everything from blues to punk rock. It also has the backing of Travel + Leisure, which named it one of America's Best Music Cities and said it was the "mother ship for indie rock and alternative-country types." Stubb's Bar-B-Q frequently books some of the bigger acts that come to town. The White Stripes, Johnny Cash, and Snoop Dogg have all performed here. Two massively popular music festivals—South by Southwest and Austin City Limits—also draw large crowds to the city.

The University of Texas brings its share of cultural attractions to Austin as well. The school's Blanton Museum of Art has one of the country's largest private collections of old-master paintings. The enormous campus is also home to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library & Museum, which exhibits several artifacts related to the 36th president.
