Classic Casino Resort in “The Biggest Little City in the World”

No one enters Reno’s casino strip without passing under the town’s most famous landmark, a neon arch that reads “Reno—The Biggest Little City in the World.” Located next to the sign is the palatial Harrah’s Reno, which is practically a city of its own: its complex has seven onsite restaurants, a spa, a concert hall, and a 60,000-square-foot casino floor.

Reno is known for its casinos, but you won’t have to travel far to find your favorite game at Harrah's: it has blackjack, roulette, baccarat, poker tournaments Thursday through Monday, keno, horserace betting, and weekend beer-pong tournaments. There are also more than 900 slot machines on the gaming floor, with novelty slots such as Sex and the City , Star Trek, and Wheel of Fortune. There’s a varied group of restaurants, whether you want to make a quick stop at a buffet or enjoy fine dining at a steak house. Use your $15 food credit at Hash House A Go Go to try the sage fried chicken and bacon waffle-tower plate ($14.95) or the shrimp-and-chicken pad thai ($9.99) at the Joy Luck Noodle Bar.

After dinner, you can head to the Sapphire Lounge for dancing, trivia, and karaoke. Throughout the year, Harrah’s hosts world-class entertainment, ranging from music performances from Brad Paisley and Elton John to mixed-martial-arts fights and nationally televised thumb wars.

Reno: Casino City with Arts and Outdoor Adventure

Reno lives up to its billing as "The Biggest Little City in the World" with museums, public art displays, cultural centers, and restaurants worthy of a metropolis, all packed together on Virginia Street. Explore the Truckee River Arts District, home to the Nevada Museum of Art and the National Automobile Museum. Because of its location just east of Tahoe National Forest, visitors can also enjoy visiting the forest’s rushing rivers and high mountain ranges for hiking, rafting, and gold-rush reenacting.
