I am looking at the 9 and 10 2013 of May for booking. Is that time available? What activities are available at that time?

Please call the Inn to check availability as it changes but as of now we have availability May 9 and 10th. May is a month of change here in Glacier and what activities are available really depends on the weather. Wildflowers may be blooming or we could have a early spring snow. The mountain goats should be frequenting the goat lick about a mile down the road, so the one activity you can count on is amazing scenery and wildlife.

Amtrak from Spokane arrives in Essex at 8:55 AM - yet, check in is listed as 3:00 PM. AND check out from the Inn is listed at 11:oo AM and the train does not leave until 7:41 PM. I am concerned about two 6 hour waits without a room. Can exceptions be made? We would like to check in earlier and out later... I'm sure others have faced this problem, can you help?

We will do everything we can to get you in to your room as early as we can and let you stay as late as we can. That being said we can not guarantee check-in prior to 3pm and check out later than 11am. We do have luggage storage and locker rooms with showers available for our guests.

Several questions about the activities available and time of year. I'm thinking about this for late March. What kind of weather patterns are typical of the area then? Would X-Country skiiing still be possible? How much is it for ski rentals and ski lessons for two adults? What about snowshoe rental cost? Are there any other activities that are popular at the end of March? Thanks.

Typical weather in March would be highs in the 30's with lows in the teens. Skiing is available until April 15th, weather permitting. Ski rentals begin at $20 for a single day. Snowshoe rentals are $12. March activities are all weather dependant, skiing and après ski by the fire are the most popular activities. Enjoying the amazing scenery while hiking, snowmobiling, photographing wildlife, fishing or even just going for a drive are some of the other activities our guests enjoy.

Are there any rooms handicap accessible? Bathrooms with rolln showers? What size bed would be in the room?

Maximum occupancy of the Empire Rooms is 3. But with a queen bed and a futon are perfectly adequate for 2 adults and two children (ages 6 & 9). Is this allowed and if so, would there be any additional fees?

The fire code has set a strict Max Occupancy of 3 persons in the Empire builder rooms. I'm sorry we could not have 2 adults and 2 childern in a room of that type. The Family cabins or a caboose would be a perfect option for a family of that size.

If you don't mind a very short walk over a train bridge to the lodge and can pay the extra, you kids will LOVE LOVE LOVE a caboose cabin. The cabooses are very nicely restored and private and on the "other side of the tracks"! Honestly, the Empire Rooms are quite small, so if you're going to have smallish, it might as well be interesting.

If you buy the caboose or cabin package, can you break that up to one night in caboose and rest in cabin?
