Multi-City China Tour

In 1842, Shanghai was a small fishing village on the muddy Huangpu River. Around that time, a series of trade disputes led to the Opium Wars, and the town ended up being occupied by British, French, and American soldiers. These Western foreigners ended up influencing the local culture and architecture and planting the seeds for Shanghai’s transformation into a cosmopolitan mega city. Today, ancient stone gates stand in front of trendy nightclubs, and ceremonial tea houses and pagodas neighbor contemporary art museums and sparkling glass skyscrapers. With Jacco Tours' 10-day, eight-night China tours, you can explore both sides of Shanghai with an English-speaking guide.

Beijing and Shanghai Tour

Days 1–4: In Beijing, a motorcoach transports you and other travelers to a five-star hotel such as Grand Gongda Jianguo Hotel. In China's capital, you’ll make a few initial stops at the Great Wall, Olympic Park, and Tiananmen Square—the world's largest public square at 99 acres, which is about the size of 90 American football fields.

Days 5–7: The fifth day begins with an included flight to Hangzhou, which is lined with centuries-old temples and gardens and was declared by Marco Polo to be "the finest, most splendid city in the world.” Hangzhou is positioned around the vast West Lake, and on a boat cruise, you’ll get a panoramic view of the town and learn how to sing sea shanties in Chinese. After stopping at a local tea farm and a few other destinations, the tour group makes way to Nanjing to get a behind-the-scenes look at a silk factory.

Days 8–10: The Imperial Garden Xihui Park was once the summer retreat of Qing dynasty emperors, and it’s a highlight of the last leg of the journey. Before heading home, you'll spend two days in Shanghai to take a guided tour of the old shopping district and ascend Oriental Pearl TV Tower to get 360-degree views of the city from its observation decks.

Eastern China Tour

Days 1–4: Tours begin in Shanghai, where a guide greets the group at the airport before arranging a motorcoach transfer to Lexington Plaza Hotel or equivalent five-star accommodations. Later, guides will lead you to the Nanjing Road shopping district, where you’ll be immersed in the frenetic cityscape of downtown Shanghai. Then it's off to Hangzhou for a cruise on West Lake, and the next morning you'll enjoy a visit to a tea farm and sip Longjing green tea.

Days 5–6: Nanjing, China's capital during the Ming dynasty in the 14th century, is the centerpiece of the tour’s middle portion. The tour will also pay a visit to a local Confucian temple and check out the wares at some nearby bazaars.

Days 7–10: Spend a couple of days in Wuxi visiting Lake Tai, which is one of China's four largest freshwater lakes, and along the way, your group will happen upon the Lingshan copper Buddha statue, which stands 100 feet taller than the Statue of Liberty. You’ll also enjoy a tea tasting and learn how powder tea is grown at Freshwater Pearls factory. For the last two days, groups will circle their way back to Shanghai, where the guide will unveil the history behind the antique market and the City God Bazaar.
