Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas

Well-Appointed Houseboat Rentals on Lake Powell

Lake Powell, the second-largest manmade lake in the country, stretches 186 miles across the red-rock desert from Arizona to Utah. Since its creation in 1963, it’s been a popular destination for houseboats due to its calm waters and seemingly endless shoreline populated by fishers, hikers, and kayakers. With this deal, you can take part in these Lake Powell traditions with multiday houseboat rentals for up to 6 or 12 people, available at two of the lake's major marinas.

Choose between The Expedition, a 46-foot economy-class boat that can sleep up to 6 in the cabin, and The Discovery XL, a 59-foot deluxe-class boat that can sleep up to 12. Both boats can be picked up at either Bullfrog Marina in Bullfrog, Utah, or Wahweap Marina in Page, Arizona. Anyone 18 or older with a valid driver's license can captain the boat, and guests are responsible for abiding by all state regulations.

Both models feature homey amenities, such as a full kitchen with a range and a lounging area with a TV and DVD player (there is no TV reception). Up on the upper deck, admire views of the surrounding red-rock canyons or fire up the grill for a group dinner.

The lake passes by beautiful, rugged terrain, and the best way to explore the landscape is taking a hike through the canyons. Many are adorned with primitive petroglyphs and ancient cliff dwellings, along with Rainbow Bridge National Monument, the largest natural bridge in the world. The lake also provides many fishing opportunities, teeming with smallmouth bass, walleye, and catfish; the best spot to hook a catch or two is in the shallow waters by the backs of the canyons.

Lake Powell: Year-Round Recreation Lake Surrounded by Towering Red-Rock Canyons

Lake Powell, which runs nearly 200 miles from northern Arizona to southern Utah, is one of the most scenic lakes in the country. Its sapphire-colored waters take on a glasslike quality during the colder months, and are ringed with towering sandstone cliffs. Much of the rocky shoreline is accessible to hikers; venture into the rugged canyons, many of which harbor wading pools and ancient art drawings. The cooler fall months, coming after the summer tourist season, offer a calm, quiet fishing oasis.

A handful of cultural and historical attractions are stationed along the lake’s shores. Visit Rainbow Bridge National Monument, the largest natural bridge in the world, and Glen Canyon Dam and Visitor Center, where guided tours detail the construction of the dam and the manmade lake.
