Every week, Lifestyle Crown Residence Suites throws a beachside welcome party for its new guests with live entertainment, dancing, and a fireworks finale. This fiesta supplies a taste of the many things you can do at the all-inclusive Caribbean resort, which sprawls across a tropical hillside like a miniature metropolis. There's something for everyone here—a playground and art club for children as well as discos, nightclubs, and bars for grownups. Eleven pools and two spas are on hand if you want to kick back and relax, or you can kick it up a notch with onsite snorkeling and other watersports.

Guests have direct access to two beaches near Lifestyle Crown Residence Suites, and much of the activity is centered here. But the resort also offers a broad range of inland activities. These include golf and yoga during the day and theater shows at night. To better navigate through these myriad facilities, you can take advantage of the resort’s free shuttle service and convenient jetpack rentals.

One-bedroom suites are like a home away from home, complete with fully equipped kitchenettes and separate dining areas. Each suite includes a large balcony or terrace, some of which face the surrounding mountains. Suites are decorated with Caribbean-inspired decor complemented by rattan, wicker, and bamboo furniture.

Dominican Republic's North Coast: Golden-Sand Beaches and Mountainside Cities

Running along the Lifestyle Crown Residence Suites’ outer edge is a beach known as Playa Cofresi. It was named after Roberto Cofresi, a pirate dubbed "the Robin Hood of the Caribbean" for how he dispensed with his stolen treasure. Today, the golden, 3-mile (5 km) stretch of sand is a more likely destination for tourists than pirates; many people frequent the Ocean World Marina here, a habitat for dolphins, sea lions, and other marine life.

From the beach, it's only a 10-minute drive to Puerto Plata, the largest city on the Dominican Republic's North Coast. The mountainside city is known for its pastel-colored Victorian buildings with gingerbread fretwork—architecture that evokes Old-World charm. You'll also find some prominent cultural attractions, including the colonial-era Fort of San Felipe, which was once used to ward off pirates. A couple of cannons still sit atop the thick walls of the fortress, and cannonballs, bayonets, and other 16th-century artifacts are displayed in the museum inside.
