It’s a lush setting that feels like it could be plucked from the pages of The Secret Garden, but it’s actually the site of Garden Grove Bed and Breakfast, whose building and property sit near the shores of Lake Michigan. Maintaining the bucolic charm of Garden Grove has become a labor of love for husband and wife innkeepers Paula and Jerry Welsh, who lend their personal hospitality throughout the elegantly appointed quarters. In the Sunflower room, a painted vine dotted with the eponymous blossom stretches along the pale pink walls toward the vaulted ceilings. Detached from the main quarters, the carriage house's secluded Lavender room and Garden Retreat room don sheer drapes, thick floral quilts, and maple hardwood floors.
