Reviews

  • The hotel had great customer service! I can't emphasize that enough. I've never met friendlier staff.

Hotel Located One Mile from Duke University

With Blue Devil Hot Wings served in the lounge to treading across the Duke-blue carpets in the guestrooms, the Millennium Hotel Durham makes clear where its collegiate allegiances lie. Located a mile from Duke University and its esteemed medical center, the hotel is in a prime location to explore one of the nation’s highest-rated colleges. Nearby is the gothic-style Duke Chapel with its 210-foot tower, the cobblestone streets of Brightleaf Square, and Cameron Indoor Stadium, where the Blue Devils basketball team plays at Coach K Court. And the hotel is located about a five-minute drive away from the “crown jewel” of the university—the Sarah P. Duke Gardens, regarded as one of the United States’ premier gardens.

Millennium Hotel’s Standard or Superior rooms combine contemporary comforts with a touch of southern charm. For dinner, head to the on-site Bel Gusto for contemporary fare. When the weather is nice, you can eat outdoors on the patio, otherwise guests can warm up at the Varsity Lounge and Grill with cocktails, sandwiches, and snacks. To relax, take a dip at the hotel’s indoor pool, where the walls have been painted with a soothing seascape mural, complete with clouds passing overhead.

Durham, North Carolina: Academia and Southern Cuisine in the Research Triangle

With Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill, and N.C. State all within close proximity, Durham and the surrounding area is often known as the "Research Triangle.” Thanks in part to the large number of international students living in the area, it's not hard to find a wide range of ethnic restaurants catering to locals and out-of-towners. And though opinions vary on the best place to try it, don’t pass up the chance to try Carolina-style barbecue, best known for its vinegar-style sauce.

There are several art galleries and museums here as well. In Durham, Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University promotes the visual arts with exhibits from Mark Bradford and Olafur Eliasson's The uncertain museum.
