What are the medical facilities in Zambai like if such attention is needed during the trip?

There are hospitals and private clinics in all of the cities where the group will be staying: Ndola, Lusaka and Livingstone, Zambia. We have only had minor illness occur with our trip participants and they have received immediate attention from private clinics and were treated without complications. Spark Ventures has a plan for any trip participants who would need additional attention to be flown to Johannesburg, South Africa (3 hours) or to Europe.

To be clear, this deal does NOT include international flight from the United States to Zambia, correct?

This deal does not include international flights. Participants are responsible for getting to Ndola, Zambia on or before July 15 (or January 20). Spark is happy to consult on travel logistics. Please feel free to call our office, 773-293-6710.

Zambia is one of the safest countries in all of Africa....never had a civil war and politically very stable. Spark has taken over 150 volunteers on numerous trips and never had a safety or security issue. Immunizations needed depend on what you've currently have so we recommend checking with the CDC for Zambia travel: http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/zambia.htm. We do recommend anti-malaria medication, which most doctors can prescribe. Participants fly into Ndola, Zambia (NLA) and leave from Livingstone, Zambia (LVI). You can also fly into Lusaka, Zambia (LUN) the day prior to the trip and Spark can help to arrange for an additional overnight and regional flight to Ndola.
