Hilltop Resort with Views of New Hampshire’s Lakes Region
A warm lagoon pool that's bathed in sunlight always looks inviting, but especially after spending a day skiing down one of three New Hampshire mountains. In the middle of 525 acres of hardwood forests, within a 20-minute drive of Gunstock Mountain Resort, and less than an hour drive from Loon Mountain, Waterville Valley, and Ragged Mountain Resort, Steele Hill Resorts houses a steamy glass atrium pool area that offers everything a sore skier could want: a heated pool, a sauna, a jacuzzi, and a roman bath. Once spring arrives and the weather starts to warm up, few things can beat the season’s first round of golf. At Steele Hill Resorts, starting around May 1–depending on weather–guests can enjoy a free round on the resort’s nine-hole executive course, which showcases the property’s hilltop setting in the scenic Lakes Region.
Many of Steele Hill’s studios and suites provide exquisite views of the Belknap Mountain Range and Lake Winnisquam. Inside one of the resort's one-bedroom suites, a private balcony overlooks the lakes and mountains. Each room is slightly different, but all rooms include either a balcony or patio. The two-bedroom suites offer two or three bathrooms, a living room with a sleeper sofa, and plenty of space. For more onsite relaxation, there’s a steamy glass-atrium pool area with a heated pool, sauna, jacuzzi, and Roman bath.
Onsite, you’ll find plenty of things to do, starting with dinner at The Hilltop Restaurant, where chefs prepare apple-and-walnut-stuffed pork and bison burgers in a restaurant surrounded by the New Hampshire countryside. Elsewhere, you can explore the resort's 5 miles of wanderable trails. Children who bring their own toboggans can whiz down the sledding hill if there’s still snow on the ground or head inside to play the Xbox Kinect in the main building’s lobby.
New Hampshire’s Lakes Region: Family Activities in Shadow of White Mountains
Located north of Concord and Manchester and south of the White Mountain National Forest, New Hampshire's Lakes Region attracts hikers, bikers, and local wildlife, including foxes, moose, and deer. In the winter, skiing, snowmobiling, and tubing are the most popular activities, with four ski resorts within an hour’s drive of the resort. But in the spring and summer, golf, hiking, and fishing are the big draws. Steele Hill Resorts accommodates anglers with a private pond suited for catch-and-release fishing.
