Two additional guests may be added to a one-bedroom deluxe or ocean-view suite for $40 per night per additional guest.

Will I be approached to attend a timeshare sales presentation?

Are dinner reservations required for restaurants? Is there a dress code?
There are four restaurants on-site: Zen (elegant), L’Azure (elegantly casual), D’Onofrio’s (casual), and The Carriage House (beachwear). Some restaurants require purchase of a meal plan. Contact the property for more information.

Four-Star Oceanside Resort with Six Outdoor Pools

The Crane Residential Resort—recognized as the Caribbean’s first resort hotel—opened its doors to guests in 1887, yet the property dates back even further. On the south end of the grounds, a set of stairs leading down to a former sea-bathing spot was constructed in 1769, and the resort’s beautifully preserved Marine Villa mansion is more than 220 years old. Over the years, The Crane has evolved into a sprawling luxury resort with six pools, world-class restaurants, and European-style suites. Thanks to its secluded cliff-top location, the hotel boasts sweeping ocean views that have dazzled visitors for centuries.

The AAA Four Diamond–rated resort overlooks Crane Beach, a stretch of pink sand named one of the best beaches in the Caribbean by the Travel Channel. Surfers and boogie boarders take to the waves here, and the water is ideal for swimming. The hotel’s glass-front elevator shuttles guests to and from the beach until sunset. Six outdoor pools onsite include the Historic Hotel pool, which sits on a cliff surrounded by doric columns, and an infinity-edge pool nestled between two restored ruins.

A shopping center, a full-service spa, and four restaurants line the cobblestone streets of Crane Village. At Zen, you can savor maki rolls and spicy thai noodles at a sushi bar overlooking the sea. L’Azure serves bouillabaisse filled with lobster, scallops and shrimp; brunch buffets here every Sunday feature live gospel music and traditional island fare. Upstairs, The Crane’s luxurious suite accommodations feature private patios and jacuzzi tubs. One-bedroom ocean-view suites have private plunge pools and balconies that look out to the water.

Highlights of Barbados

  • Oldest rum brand in the world: Mount Gay Distilleries has used the island’s abundant sugar cane to make aromatic rum since 1703.
  • Local cuisine: Flying fish paired with cou-cou (a mash of cornmeal and okra) is Barbados's national dish.
  • See stalactites hanging from huge limestone caverns at Harrison’s Cave.
  • Head to Holetown to see the Folkestone Marine Park and Museum, where a reef formed by a sunken ship flourishes with sea anemones, giant crabs, and decaying GPS screens.
  • Gorgeous tropical scenery at the Barbados Flower Forest, which is filled with lilies, flowering shrubs, and towering palms.
  • Colonial history: Barbados was a British colony until 1966, which explains the popularity of afternoon teas and cricket matches.

With this resort being as popular as it is, it should offer a shuttle service to and from the airport. Taxi service is fine to get around town but I feel they should offer a shuttle service for the airport to their guests.

The groupon Crane resort deal was well worth it. It is a gorgeous resort and my suite was awesome. The staff was friendly from the door to floor ( Special thanks to Anthony , Juanita and Shane). I would definitely go back. The Canre is mad for a relaxing vacation with some siteseeing, not to the party until you pass out crowd. Great for a romantic getaway!!

Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much. The staff was very pleasant and helpful, and the beach was amazing. We were surprised that there seemed to be more construction and maintenance work going on than the website led us to believe. We had seen some reviews to indicate that the a/c in the guest rooms wasn't adequate and that the hot water wasn't consistent -we found both to be true. We're not the type to complain (so we didn’t), but we were surprised that a resort of this caliber would have such inconsistencies. While we would consider going back to the Crane for our next visit to Barbados, we would be careful in recommending it to our friends and family until the expansion and restoration projects are completed. Hopefully that will come with more consistency in the guest experience.
