Hotel at a Glance: The Olde Mill Inn Bed & Breakfast
The Olde Mill Inn Bed & Breakfast has seen a few things in its time. This former corn-grinding mill has an attached log cabin that was built in the 1700s—Cumberland Gap's oldest building. At this peaceful inn tucked into the Appalachian Mountains, you can sip coffee out on the deck, wiggle your toes in the creek while listening to the mill's water wheel, or look for centuries-old musket-ball holes in the log cabin's sides.
Explore the wilderness: There are more than 20,000 acres of forests right outside the door—you'll be practically in the middle of Cumberland Gap National Historical Park.
Uniquely decorated rooms include furnishings such as canopy beds and jetted tubs.
A full breakfast is served each morning at the 18-foot dining table.
Restored gristmill grinds cornmeal and grits for guests' breakfasts
Stay active with fishing or hiking, available within walking distance of the inn. Cumberland Gap, Tennessee: Historical Sites in the Appalachians
Located slightly north of where Tennessee's, Virginia's, and Kentucky's borders meet, Cumberland Gap is a picturesque spot in the Appalachians set next to a mountain pass of the same name. This area is also the site of several important—and uniquely bloodless—Civil War battles and features historic buildings and sites related to the war.
Don't miss the opportunity to hike and bike through more than 20,000 acres of
Cumberland Gap National Historical Park and check out the park's 24 limestone caves. You can also walk the Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail—the 18th-century road used to access the American West—or visit the eccentric Little Congress Bicycle Museum.
