Napa Valley Winery Tour
Together, Napa Valley and Sonoma County make up the most renowned wine region in California—and the country—with more than 400 wineries in Napa Valley and 200 in Sonoma. On this adventure from Authentic Wine Country, you'll tour some of these vineyards, chat with winemakers, and sip the fruits of their labors. Breakfast is included each morning. The six-day, five-night tour option includes everything from the four-day, three-night option, plus two more nights at the Ivy Hotel and two more days with the rental car.
Day 1: After you fly into your airport—you can fly into any in the Bay Area— you’ll hop in your pre-reserved rental car and cross the Golden Gate Bridge en route to wine country. Feel free to take the day to sightsee on your own.
For the first two nights of the trip, you'll stay at The Geyserville Inn in quaint Geyserville, where you’ll sleep soundly among the town’s old Victorian homes and more than 40 wineries.
Day 2: On this day, you'll visit a vineyard in the Dry Creek Valley region. A chef here will prepare small plates of seasonal food, and a wine guide will also be on hand to help you learn the fundamentals of wine pairing as well as your spirit grape. The day's main event is a tour of the Alexander Valley and its underground caves. You'll tour vineyards here and a wine cave and check out some winemaking facilities. Additionally, at one vineyard, a winemaker will pair wine made onsite with five local artisan cheeses.
Day 3: Today, you'll journey to the town of Napa, where you can bust out the included Napa wine-tasting pass. With this, you have access to tastings at downtown Napa’s 12 tasting rooms and wine bars, which feature thousands of local and international wines. The card is valid all year, and can even be transferred.
On this night (or for the next three nights, if you choose the extended trip option), you’ll stay at The Ivy Hotel, a chic boutique property in Napa. During downtime, you can unwind at the outdoor pool, surrounded by private cabanas and blooming gardens.
When you have free time in the car, visit the town of Healdsburg in Sonoma County, which has many boutique wineries, or drive one hour south to Sausalito, a gorgeous coastal town just across the bay from San Francisco.
Day 4: After a complimentary breakfast at the Ivy Hotel, you'll head home.
