Customized Spa Package at Neoclassical Marriott Designed by Famed Architect Daniel Burnham
VALEO spa treats visitors to 20,000-square-feet worth of luxury. The facility offers traditional spa services as well as more unusual offerings such as clarity chambers—heated stone rooms modeled after Moroccan hammams. This Groupon entitles you to two spa experiences at VALEO.
The spa is housed at the JW Marriott. In 2011, Condé Nast Traveler added the hotel to its Hot List in the wake of a $400 million renovation. The overhaul restored the opulence of the building, which was designed by famed Chicago architect Daniel Burnham. The original Burnham ballroom still sparkles with its domed ceiling and rows of crystal chandeliers, but the rest of the hotel has a more contemporary feel, with bright colors that complement marble floors and gold-topped columns.
Located in one of the world’s great financial districts, the hotel is a half a block away from the Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower), the tallest building in North America. Many of Chicago’s museums and downtown theaters are also within walking distance. A quick train ride around the Loop will bring you to the Magnificent Mile for world-class shopping. You can get a good bird’s-eye view of the city from the high-rise hotel’s stylish rooms.
For onsite dining, head to The Florentine, which was nominated for Best New Italian restaurant by Time Out Chicago in 2011. The antipasti dishes and wood-fired pizzas are made using imported Italian pastas, cheeses, and meats, as well as ingredients from local organic farms.
Chicago's Magnificent Mile: Upscale Boutiques and Historical Architecture
Only a mile from the hotel is Chicago’s Magnificent Mile where landmark skyscrapers such as the John Hancock Center and the Wrigley Building tower over the city's liveliest retail corridor. In total, the stretch of high-end real estate houses some 460 stores, ranging from exclusive designers such as Armani and Chanel to beloved brands including Apple, American Girl, and Gap. Double-decker buses and horse-drawn carriages circle the Chicago Water Tower, a limestone icon that survived the Great Chicago Fire, and droves of shoppers navigate eight levels of boutiques and cafés at the nearby Water Tower Place.
To the east lies Lake Michigan and the Museum Campus, a 57-acre lakefront park home to the city's trio of natural-sciences museums. The Field Museum houses more than 21 million artifacts, including its most famous resident, Sue, the largest and most complete Tyrannosaurus rex fossil ever unearthed. Bullfrogs, beluga whales, and moon jellies dwell at Shedd Aquarium, and stargazers will want to make a stop at Adler Planetarium, the first of its kind in the Western Hemisphere.

About VALEO - Travel
The JW Marriot stands in the heart of downtown Chicago, just a quick walk away from Millennium Park, high-end shopping along The Magnificent Mile, and museums. The hotel feels luxurious from the moment guests step through the front doors into a lobby adorned with glittering chandeliers, white marble pillars and floors, and gilded accents. An onsite restaurant, The Florentine, serves upscale Italian-American cuisine and pours more than a dozen wines by the quartino (about one third of a bottle). The editors of Condé Nast Traveler named it one of the world’s best new hotels in 2011—quite a transformation for a neoclassical building that served as a bank in the early 1900s.
Valeo, JW Marriott’s onsite spa, offers custom facials, therapeutic massages, and other results-oriented services designed to stretch the muscles and the rubber bands that keep our elbows from coming unhinged. The 20,000-square-foot space also contains a yoga studio, fitness center, and pool.
